What is your name and your current position in the band?
I´m Kruger the vocalist.
How would you categorize the style of the band? And did you ever consider or try playing other styles of music than the one(s) you are playing now?
Part trash - Part rock I guess.
Our influences will always be present in our music, how big a role a specific influence plays changes over time, but we´d never make sudden changes in our sound or style.
What is your latest album and why should people buy it?
It´s entitled "Fresh Kill Daily" and should be bought because it fucking rocks...listen for yourself!
Tell us about the history of the band. More specifically, when was the band formed, how did you meet, and have there been any particular highlights or low points in your career, any crucial events that have taken you where you are today?
The base of MEVADIO was actually laid down as early as 1995 when brothers Ivan, Michael and Kenneth formed a band called "Facing a boring day". 2 years later I joined them, we made some lousy and some ok demos, played some gigs and eventually landed a record deal in 2002. The year later Thomas joined us, we played a bunch of shows and are now ready with our 2nd album...
Was there ever a time when you wondered if your band would remain just a local outfit and never make it in the industry?
When you start a band you never know where things are gonna end - all you´ve got is hopes and dreams. So you work hard and try to point things in a certain direction. You´re never better than your last record or last show, and the fans determains how far you´ll be able to push things...
Can you share with us one or two of your favourite moments with the band?
We played The Rock in Copenhagen in 2002, and the first row crowd went so ballistic that a civilian cop pulled out his police badge to calm things down. Afterwards a couple of enthutiastic people from a record label offered us our first record deal - and then we drank as hell...
While recording our debut "Hands Down" the phone rang and a guy offered us a supportslot for Sepultura in our hometown....we were literally blown away and had a blast playing a sold out venue the week after.
How is the writing process in the band?
Well....slow....we write all our music together wich meens that 5 different opinions has to fall in place. Someone comes up with a riff or a hook and after playing that 5 million times, we agree on where we want to take the song.
What brought you on the path to becoming a musician? Did you ever consider or take any other paths through life besides music?
We´ve all played since we were kids or youngsters, but at the same time we´ve allways had a life outside MEVADIO and the other bands we´ve played in. I think that´s what makes us a strong and diverse as we are. We all bring something into our music from a world outside the musicindustry, and it put things in perspective...but a life without heavy metal?! No way.
Do you have any idols? If yes, who?
I´m diehard Slayer fan, the kings of trash in my world.
Do you have any regrets looking back at your career? For example any songs or even full albums that you regret recording? If so, what made you regret it?
Not really....
Are there particular songs in your catalogue that the fans love but you're not particular fond of yourself?
Someone told me that the track "Rainbow Desire" from the "Hands Down" album, was his alltime favorite, I think it´s pussyrock.
How important do you rate the lyrical side of your albums?
Pretty high. Some metalbands proudly pronounces that they don´t give a shit about the lyrics, as if they were to heavy and tough to care - I don´t get that opinion. I don´t think it gets the least heavier because the lyrics is some dumbass, halfwit shit. When you put out an album, you know people will listen and read the lyrics, so as I see it, you might as well write something intelligent.
What do you think about the state of the music industry today?
I don´t really have an opinion on that issue.
What do you think is the best way to fight music piracy?
Punish it by hanging.
Do you have a life philosophy? If yes, what is it?
Don´t be indifferent and don´t waste your time on unimportant shit....in other words: kill your television.
Can you describe a typical day in your life?
I get up, answer interviews and things like these, play some metal, drinks a beer and go to bed...
What do you like to spend your time with besides music?
Play with my kids and read.
What's the craziest thing that has ever happened on a tour?
Touring meens a whole lot of drinking and fucking things up, the memorable moments concludes everything from getting beaten up, puking on own and others musicgear, waking up in the hospital - to escaping horny, overweight girls in blackmetal outfits. Not very glamourus but very fucking funny...he he...
You're heading off to live on a deserted island for a couple of years with your portable entertainment system... Which albums, movies or books would you bring? (Max. 3 of each)
I´d bring "South of Heaven", "Back in Black" and "Painkiller". "Bladerunner", "Godfather" and "Nightmare on Elm street", a couple of books by danish author Tûrell and a bunch of "Calvin & Hobbes" cartoons.
What is your favourite joke?
Blackmetal
Can you tell us about any future plans for you and your band?
Our sophmore album "Fresh Kill Daily" is released January 28th 2008 and we´ll be touring Denmark in the spring of 2008. Hopefully we´ll play a couple of european festivals during the summer.
Thanks for answering these questions. Now you are free to write a few lines to our readers.
