Timeless Miracle deliver Power Metal in the vain of Gamma Ray,
Sonata Arctica and
Stratovarius mixed with folk music and classically influenced keyboards on their fairly good debut album.
Points are given for being fairly diverse, compared to many bands doing the same thing. A song like
Curse Of The Werewolf holds many small, cool details, and a structure ranging from wild, machinegun drums parts to quiet folkish interludes.
The music is very happy and melodic, and sometimes the melodies balance on the verge of getting just a tad too honey dripping, like the ballad
Memories. I could imagine fans of the above-mentioned bands will find something to like on the album, though.
On some tracks like
Witches Of Black Magic, The Red Rose and
Down To The Gallows,
Timeless Miracle gives the impression of just another fairly good Power Metal band. But it is the folk/medieval elements that are the band's strongest force, delivered in a lighthearted way with realistic instruments like flute and cello. This is what the band should rely on, and this is where their talent lies. Cuts like the titletrack, so very melodic, uplifting and cheerful, is definitely something that makes me return to the disc again and again.
The sympathic lyrical message of living in harmony with nature (paganism) that runs through the album like a red line, is well written and seems to come from the heart. It is only ruined a bit by the more lame fantasy themes of witches and werewolves.
The music is very well arranged and I have come to enjoy the voice of Mikael Holst quite a bit. His clear and emotional voice suits the happy and emotional vibe of the band and his high pitch never sounds forced.
I believe
Timeless Miracle have the potential to grow and develop further into something really interesting in the future.
