Silent Force's third output could speak to fans of more than one genre; traditional Metal, Power Metal and Hard Rock are all central elements in this collection of songs focusing very much on melodies and binding chorus lines.
Former
Primal Fear guitarist Alex Beyrodt and former
Royal Hunt vocalist DC Cooper take up a central position and especially the guitars are very dominant, and that's not a bad thing at all.
Ride The Storm opens the twelve-track disc and it's also one of the albums best cuts, intelligently mixing heavy drumming, crisp guitar riffs, deep bass fills and huge background keys into a very loud forceful flow.
The mid-tempo rocker
Once Again feeds on a cool catchy chorus and the memorable guitar lick adds to the very harmonious vibe, a really great song.
Death Comes In Disguise is song that quickly looses its interest, being build upon a standard rhythm base and a quite boring chorus line. The advanced keyboard solo is a highlight opposed to the following rather monotone guitar solo, the classical melody incorporated towards the end sounds a bit far-fetched too in my opinion.
DC Cooper's vocals are quite bright and overall he does a good job even though his voice becomes a bit too thin at times, as in the chorus of
Iron Hand which isn't exactly inspiring, overall a decent song that offers spectacular guitar soloing.
The rest of the musical performance on Worlds Apart is solid and tightly brought together and the extensive use of keyboards gives the songs a dynamic depth.
The vocals could have been offered a clearer production; the general sound quality is nevertheless quite good, the guitars and keys being the instruments with the most balanced sound.
The lyrics are pretty good and fit the mood of the songs nicely, believing in yourself and standing for what is right and just are recurring themes.
The majority of the songs can be labelled good without being fantastic and I'm left with a feeling of having been listening to a rather successful album that on the other hand never really got to impress and take the next step forward, the style of some of these songs becomes a bit too much alike.
To sum up I would say that the good stuff outweighs the unsuccessful elements, if you like guitar driven and melodic Metal with an easy accessible structure you might want to check this one out.
