Isenburg - Erzgebirge
Nice recording from Persecution vocalist/bassist and singer for Andras. Unfortunately I don't know his name....not in my promo materials. Nonetheless though this album is kicking!

The best aspect of the album is the use of dynamics. The moods change a lot and that is an element often found wanting in blackened death metal.

The album sound is new necro, gritty and dirty, but all instruments are audible and distinct.
The last Frost album "Talking To God" would be a good comparison in production and maybe Enslaved's "Below The Lights" too. In fact there are some similar music moments that remind me of Enslaved as well.

The album is a homage to the mountainous area of Erzgebirge in Germany. Taking in influences of it's folk music and it's culture. Not folk metal at all but you will hear actual music from the area placed cleverly throughout the album, no doubt samples from traditional German folk music albums.

Let me throw out some bands you may know that will give you an idea of what to expect from Isenburg. Enslaved, as I have already mentioned, some symphonic influences like early Dimmu Borgir, a taste of Borknagar and a touch of Frost and Darkthrone. Really Isenburg has it's own thing going on and the influences are heard but not derivative. Oh yeah there's a Windir influence going on too in both the music and the nature/historical aspect of the lyrics.

All in all an excellent debut album that you can easily tell a lot of time, thought, hard work and creativity went into it. Did I mention he did it all by himself? Another fact that adds to it's breadth. Isenburg deserve a spot in the upper regions of the Blackened Death genre and only time and good marketing can get it out there.

The album is layered with many different sounds and never gets dull. Every spin reveals something new and ultra cool. Excellent songwriting and musicianship! This is a full on winner!
