Elenium - For Giving...For Getting

Let's Get Straight to it! To know if this album is something you should drop some hard earned cash on then answer the following questions:

Do You like?

1) Excellent songwriting.

2) First class musicianship.

3) Understandable but low death vocals.

4) Clean vocals too with killer, memorable melodies.

5) Melodic but heavy guitars.

6) Tasteful and virtuoso keyboard playing.

7) Drums that capture each rhythm precisely and fills to match.

8) Clear, full, album sound production.

9) Bands like Omnium Gatherum, Kalmah, Children Of Bodom, Mors Principium Est, Soilwork and newer Moonspell.

10) Songs that take you through many moods but all the sections are complimentary and fit perfect together to make killer songs.

11) An album you will want to hear over and over and over and over again.

12) Songs that bury themselves into your head and you find yourself humming them in your head all day long.

13) An album that is not too long and not too short and contains not one single filler track!

If you answered yes to these questions then there is nothing more to say. Buy it, love it, experience an incredible album for yourself. You will not regret it!

Having heard several Rage Of Achilles' bands now I am convinced they can do no wrong! They have a really cool, graphically killer web site as well where you can hear samples and full length mp3's to download and they have a great online store! www.rageofachilles.com and www.eleniumband.com for bio, photos, downloads and all things Elenium.

A big "Horns Up" and thanks to Johannes for sending me this! You rule! \m/

Just downloaded some song from their site, "Up the long Ladder", it sounds like "In Flames" alike band, with unrecognized vocals and too much unnecessary aggression

@ Nihilist

Hey man thanks for writing in.

I don't hear the In Flames but i'm not that familiar with their older stuff. I like unnecesary aggression myself...it's kinda what make aggressive music...well...aggressive!
Something i failed to mention in the review is that i didn't really "get" this album until about the third listen....it takes some repeat spins for it to open up....man when it does it will stick to your ribs like too much peanut butter!
As far as the vocals i don't think i know what you mean by unrecognised....maybe you mean you can't understand what he is saying because of the death vocals...if that is the case then that is really part and parsel for this style of music...melodic death metal. Is this a style you normally listen to?
If you have time write back and tell me more of what you're thinking.

Look, I have only one song so I can't judge the whole album, I didn't saw that this is death metal, otherwise I wouldn't download the song at all.
Don't like death/black/thrash metal anyway...sorry

@Nihilist

Hey man no problem! Yeah if you don't dig death it's certainly for you!

For future reference there is a style listing right underneath the song titles under the album cover art to the right of all our reviews. That may save you some trouble in the future.

Thanks again for writing back...your time is very much appreciated.

What style(s) do you like? We review all kinds of stuff and some reviewers here stick to one style more than others alot....like me i am really into extreme stuff and prog rock...so i write mostly about that stuff but I do like other styles and occasionally write about them if they are good...like my recent review of a band called The Ring, which is an epic powermetal band with clean vocals and more straight ahead metal like dio.

Thanks for your time Nihilist, I really appreciate your reading our zine!
