Brides of Destruction - Here Come the Brides
Brides of Destruction is the long awaited collaboration between Motley Crue's Nikki Sixx and founding L.A Guns guitarist Tracii Guns. I was expecting a crossover between the 2 bands equal a pure and excellent record based in the aforementioned band's Hard rock style.

The 9 songs on the bands debut album are a mixed bag. The first single Shut the Fuck Up displays the punkier and heavier side of Brides of Destruction. The distorted vocals from London Le Grand underlines the punky attitude. The excellent I Don't Care mixes the punky side with a redeeming melodic chorus. Again the angry lyrics underline the punk edge.

I got a Gun has a special atmosphere with Tracii laying down great guitar lines. The chorus goes uptempo and London Le Grand performs his best.

Overall most songs are decent but not great. 2 Times Dead is all right, but it lacks the final punch to become really great. Running more than 5 minutes it fails to keep the listener attached.

Tracii plays a neat riff on Brace Yourself , which is a modern rock song. It's a song that keeps progressing. It just misses the catchiness characterizing Motley Crue and L.A. Guns songs.

Natural Born Killers is a horrible track and Life is a boring modern rocker with a poppy chorus.

The emotional album closer Only Get So Far is the best song. The song is a mixture of pop and modern rock. The chorus is melodic and finally Tracii Guns gets space to prove his skills on the six-string. The long solo is fabulous.

"Here Come the Brides" has a few good songs with I Don't Care, I got a Gun and Only Get so Far as highlights, but overall this record is disappointing. An average record and all in all disapointing songs from Motley Crue's main songwriter. Some would call the record diverse, but I would call it diffuse since the album doesn't convince the listener and the mixed bag of songs makes it uneven.

Yepp, a disappointment... but still I will go see Brides of Destruction together with Alice Cooper, Turbonegro, Mustasch and more on Metaltown Göteborg June 19... until then, go buy Motley Crue - Too Fast For Love and LA Guns - LA Guns, if you don't already have them... which you should!! :-)

I think the album is probably a 7-8. I felt that 2x dead was a tad long. But the rest of the album is full of catchy punk/hard rock/metal riffs. For me the best song was Life, it easily could have been on a Motley Crue cd. And I think fans of the Crue will latch on to that song alot. But the production "demo-quality album" got to me a little.
