Disbelief perform what could be effectively described as AlternaDeath on Spreading The Rage.
You have Karsten Jager singing with a deathed up version of Lemmy's (Motorhead) voice. It borders on Hardcore a bit too.
Rather than riffing and the speed of most Death bands, these guys remain mid-paced and concentrate more on groove.
The guitars using strummed and slow picked chords rather than chunky rhythmic riffs, hence the 'alternadeath' description.
The production is decent but I wish the guitars were more clearly done. The vocals are buried in the mix a little too much as well.
There is just a general wash of distorted noise that isn't of the most enjoyable kind, in fact it is quite fitting that the album cover and band photo is of the band covered in mud, cause that's what the production is, muddy!
The songs are ok but just not my cup of joe. They pretty much all sound the same and even after ten spins it's hard to tell them apart.
Need to recommend you hear it before you buy it.
They are a well known band and have several albums to their credit. I know i will step on some fan's shoes but i just don't like it and think it lacks variation and is way too damn long. They obviously have talent and having not heard them before, I don't know if this an experiment in style for them apart from their other albums. I would hope so.
Please read our rating system before you rag me too much! :)
