Korpiklaani - Spirit Of The Forest
Much like Skyclad's less than metal Folk offerings of the past Korpiklaani have seemingly ripped a page from the Skyclad book of Folk Metal.

Inviting you to drink and dance with the 'spirits' of the forest Korpiklaani weave an infectiously catchy blend of pub songs and metal that contain accordian, fiddle, flute and traditonal Finnish instruments like jouhilkko.

Jonne sings in gruff almost Martin Walkyer like voice too.

Skycald comparisons aside these guys are more in touch with their folk roots and break down for acoustic/percussion interludes that have you sitting around a campfire in the woods in states of melancholy after too much wine, meade, and dancing have been done.

A most unusual but refreshing style of metal that would make any Finntroll or Skyclad fans come a running.

Good production, catchy songs and an excellent source of Finnish Folk melodies to bring their homeland's folk music to the masses.

Check out this "Forest Clan" at www.korpiklaani.com for more details and to hear some of the most folk laced of the folk metal bands going.

Hey Aswer,
Thanks for taking the time to post a comment on my review.
I would agree that a 7.5 rating could've been given. Even though i gave it 10 listens i have since listened to it even more and it's still growing on me. A good folk metal album for sure.
Anyway Thanks.
