Draconian - Where Lovers Mourn
Napalm records continues it's groundbreaking work in bringing the most interesting and diverse metal sounds to the world at large.

With their Draconian flag bearers they have yet again unleashed not only a quality metal band but one that makes it's mark as something completely different and original. Thanks Napalm!

Draconian are Doom laden and heavy. A seven piece outfit consisiting of two vocalists, one male and one female, two guitarists, Bass, Drums and a Keyboardist.

The magic for me lies in the vocalists. A heavy almost black metal male vocal performed by Anders Jacobsson and a clean, lilting female vocal by Lisa Johansson. They are equally present but only in the right places. A really excellent spacing of all instruments is what actually makes this album so good.

Featuring melody after haunting melody and slow heavy doom riffs broken by quicker sections that allow the head to bang between heavier moments of contemplation and relaxation.

If you like Madder Mortem then you would certainly dig this album. Heavy and extreme but Gothic and mellow too. In fact if you mixed Moonspell's latest release "The Antidote" and Madder Mortem then you will start to get the picture of the magnitude of talent in this band.

If forced to pick a few standout tracks it would be very hard to do. They all rock real hard! Yet i could throw out "Silent Winter" as one and "Reversio Ad Seccesum" as another. Still though they are all good and my choices are based on immediate recognition of catchiness.

A must have for any doom/gothic metal fan! Top Notch!
