Friday, September 14, 2007 - Mercenary Album news
News from Mercenary:

After a long summer break, we're finally back from the living and ready to roam amongst the dead again...

The song writing for the next album has begun and we're currently recording song structures and demoing ideas.
The studio time has been finally booked for November, which gives us a tentative release in spring 2008.

Mikkel says: "...Everything is going great and I'm bursting with ideas and melodies. It's nice to be back in the writers position and get to manifest the input and inspiration I've accumulated over the last year...Don't know the title yet, but it will be something colourful and shapeless... "

Rene continues:"...I'm very exited and happy having begun the process of creating the new material, so far the ideas that have been put on the table has made my spine tremble, and my ears bleed with pleasure! My mind is bursting with melodies and earth shaking bass lines, and I cant wait to get into the studio!..."

Wednesday, March 22, 2006 - Kral Leaves Mercenary
We are sad to announce that founding member Henrik "Kral" Andersen has informed us that he no longer wants to be a part of Mercenary. What might come as a big shock to everyone outside the band has however been apparent to the band for some time. That said we feel it's important to state very clearly that we part ways as the best of friends and we all wish Kral the very best in his future life and pursuits.

Kral will always be a part of the Mercenary family and we thank him first of all for joining us all up in the band through the years, as well as for the lots and lots of cool, fun and unforgettable times. Kral is expected to give a statement shortly.

The split has in no way affected the recording of the new album since the rest of the band have been working on the new material during the last couple of months in Kral's absence. All vocals (including shouts and screams) on the upcoming album will be done by Mikkel who is also responsible for lyrics this time. Furthermore the split will not affect the upcoming touring schedule in any way.

As a consequence of Kral leaving the band we are searching for a new bass player/shouter/screamer.
We have to state that we need a person that is able to do both and are not looking for two new members.

Saturday, July 3, 2004 - Mercenary signs with Century Media
Century Media Press release:

Emerging initially in the '90s and after multiple line-up changes and stylistic re-definitions, it was their classy 2002 album "Everblack" that garnered Mercenary worldwide praise and attention. The Danish band developed a name by mixing elements from both epic Power Metal and progressive passages with melodically aggressive Thrash/Death Metal rhythms.

Their multi-layered vocals that range from clean signing to extreme shouting give the band a unique edge, always suitably supported by walls of atmospheric keyboards. Developing their trademark sound a step further, Mercenary have managed to create a very own and challenging metallic style with their new album "11 Dreams", to be released August 23rd through Century Media Records in Europe.

Guitarplayer Jakob Mølbjerg comments on the newly signed deal as follows:
"We are extremely proud and honoured to be able to announce that we have entered a multi-album worldwide deal with Century Media Records. Signing with the label has always been a dream for us - not only as a label but as a statement that Mercenary has entered a new rank in the world of Metal Music.

Century Media Records is and has always been a stamp of approval and quality and we will make our very best efforts in every area to live up to this compliment shown to us by The Century Family!"

"11 Dreams" comes with a crystal clear production courtesy of Jacob Hansen(Hatesphere, Invocator, Raunchy, etc.), stylish artwork by Niklas Sundin (Dark Tranquillity, In Flames, Arch Enemy, etc.) and includes a surprising cover version of Kent's hit-single "Music Non Stop".

Fans of stand-out bands like Nevermore, Angel Dust, Evergrey, Into Eternity and others along those lines will nod with approval about the extremely high quality offering delivered by Mercenary.

Check out the album's title track "11 Dreams" online at this location to get a taster of the great things to come August 23rd.
