Wednesday, June 23, 2010 - Megadeth Announce Rust In Peace Live DVD
The final night of Megadeth's historic month-long "Rust In Peace" 20th anniversary tour has been captured for the upcoming "Rust In Peace Live" Blu-ray, DVD and CD, due out September 7 on Shout! Factory.

On March 31, 2010, at this incredibly special show at the legendary Hollywood Palladium, not far from where Dave Mustaine formed the band in 1983, Megadeth played their landmark, genre-defining 1990 "Rust In Peace" album in its entirety, in addition to other Megadeth favourites. "Rust In Peace Live" also marks the return of original bassist David Ellefson (Megadeth 1983-2002) to the iconic multi-platinum group after eight years. Ellefson (bass) joins Mustaine (lead vocals, guitar), Shawn Drover (drums) and Chris Broderick (guitar).

Megadeth founder/frontman/guitarist Dave Mustaine explains, "We are pumped to be able to share the 'RIP Live' concert with you all around the world. The anniversary and David Ellefson coming back was better than a facelift and a bottle of Viagra for old [Megadeth mascot] Vic."

The 80-minute "Rust In Peace Live" DVD (5.1 Dolby Surround 16:9 Widescreen) and Blu-ray (5.1 DTS Master Audio 1080p High Definition) were directed by Kerry Asmussen (Green Day, Coachella). The DVD and Blu-ray will also include behind-the-scenes footage, including a rare glimpse of the band rehearsing in their dressing room as they prepare to take the stage.

Thursday, June 18, 2009 - Megadeth Announce Endgame As Title Of New Album - Due In September
News from Megadeth:

Megadeth have announced Endgame as the title of their twelfth studio album. The album is expected to be released in September through Roadrunner Records. It was recorded at the band's brand new, self-built studio, Vic's Garage, located near San Diego and named after the legendary and iconic Vic Rattlehead character.

Endgame is being produced by Andy Sneap and Dave Mustaine. Sneap also manned the boards for 2007's United Abominations. Some track titles include 'Headcrusher', '1,320', 'How the Story Ends' and 'This Day We Fight'.

Endgame boasts the technicality, ferocity and snarl that's synonymous with Megadeth and Mustaine. It's a violent masterwork that represents Mustaine's best work in nearly two decades. In a musical world dominated by bands that make generic, blanket statements, Endgame finds Mustaine, once again, making informed and substantial lyrical declarations about the state of the world we live in.

Mustaine himself commented on Endgame, saying, "Thematically, I've never been known to be a silent bystander in a world that needs our participation. As more is revealed about our former President's legacy, a little-known yet staggeringly frightening document which was signed into law, named 'Endgame,' has been uncovered. The album Endgame is the most energetic music offering I have penned in over a decade and is far more believable than knowing someone signed 'Endgame' -the document- into law. The album is also the perfect 'ass- kicking' music to listen to once you are done reading the aforementioned document!"

In short, it's the Megadeth record that fans of classics like So Far, So Good... So What? and Rust In Peace have been chomping at the bit for.

"This new album is my proudest moment since the famous (or infamous) Rust In Peace album," Mustaine also said. "With this album, I am also very excited to be introducing my new lead guitarist Chris Broderick to the world. I have always felt lucky to have had top shredders in that position, but after touring with Chris in support of my last album, I couldn't wait to get into the studio and see what he could do."

Megadeth's lineup consists of Mustaine, Broderick, bassist James LoMenzo and drummer Shawn Drover.

Monday, January 14, 2008 - Glen Drover Explains Departure From Megadeth
Guitarist Glenn Drover has delivered the following official statement to BW&BK in regards to his departure from Megadeth:

"I am aware of the rumors that I left Megadeth to focus on family life. My family life has always been my priority.

In the end, I was unhappy with the situation, which magnified me wanting to spend more time with my family and realizing that it's time for me to move on to the next chapter in my musical career. First, I want to spend some good quality time here at home with my family for a little bit before getting into anything serious.

Obviously, I have not spent the last several years of my life working hard to stop now.

That would be insane, to put it mildly. This is what I do, and I am excited about what the future in music has in store for me.

I would like to thank Dave (Mustaine) for giving me a great opportunity to be a part of Megadeth for the past 3 + years. To be a part of this band with my brother (drummer) Shawn (Drover) and tour the world, was awesome to say the least!

I have a lot of great memories and met a ton of great people along the way, both fans and people in the industry. I am also very proud to have been a part of bringing Megadeth back to the forefront and firmly putting the band back on the map!

Last but not least, I would like to thank all of the fans, the Megadeth road crew and all of my endorsements, as well as everyone who has supported me in making my time with Megadeth a very memorable experience!

Glen Drover."

Monday, January 14, 2008 - Megadeth Confirm New Guitarist; Official Gigantour 2008 Details Revealed
Press release from Megadeth:

Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine has big news for metal fans: Gigantour is back, and Megadeth has a new guitarist. The third installment of Gigantour - the acclaimed traveling heavy music festival launched in 2005 by Mustaine--will kick off April 12 in Denver, CO with headliner Megadeth, Scandinavian death metal band IN FLAMES, Finland's CHILDREN OF BODOM, Arizona's modern extreme JOB FOR A COWBOY and Oakland, CA heavy power trio HIGH ON FIRE all confirmed. The 29-date trek will criss-cross North America and wraps May 22 in Phoenix , AZ.

Mustaine sums up the philosophy behind v, hailed by Revolver magazine as "the mother of all shred-fests" : "If the bands and the fans are treated well, then the entertained and the entertainers go home happy - it's a win-win situation." Since its inception in 2005, Gigantour has galvanized bands that emphasize true musicianship and virtuosity, offering them a new opportunity to showcase their talents. "I think that in a small way, we are cleaning up the environment of crappy bands," he says, laughing. "All of the people that really love this kind of music know that they can count on these bands to deliver the goods this year."

In other Megadeth news, the group has officially welcomed new guitarist Chris Broderick (Nevermore, Jag Panzer) to the band after parting ways with Glen Drover - which was hinted at back in November. "I've noticed [on the Internet] that people are pissed with me over the way things were handled with Glen quitting the group," says Mustaine, "but they're gonna be pissed even more when they hear how fierce we are with Chris! Megadeth is playing at a new level." Broderick will make his live debut with Megadeth February 4 in Finland, where the group--guitarist/singer Mustaine, guitarist Broderick, drummer Shawn Drover and James Lomenzo on bass - is kicking off a long string of international dates which wrap March 14 in Bangalore, India. The full itinerary, including Gigantour UK dates, is below. To see Broderick in action, click here

Gigantour features bands hand-picked by Mustaine with a sharp eye on true musicianship and a heavy focus on top-notch guitarists. The trek always offers a strong connection between fans and musicians.

Tuesday, October 2, 2007 - Megadeth - Warchest compilation details - Release moved to October 9th
4-CD+DVD Box Set Is Armed With More Than 6 Hours of Megadeth's Best, Including 33 Previously Unreleased Audio and Video Tracks

Megadeth's Dave Mustaine and Capitol/EMI have collaborated to create and deploy the ultimate Megadeth boxed set: Warchest. The 4-CD+DVD collection features more than six hours of digitally remastered content, hand-selected by Mustaine, including 30 audio and video tracks making their global release debuts, and an additional three tracks that have never before been released in the U.S. Warchest's October 9 release caps Mustaine and Capitol/EMI's in-depth Megadeth catalog remastering and restoration campaign, which has encompassed the band's Capitol studio albums, while also adding new audio and video collections to the band's arsenal.

Armed with digitally remastered career-defining album cuts, soundtrack and compilation sides, unreleased live and studio performances and interview clips spanning more than 20 years, Warchest is the ultimate Megadeth compendium. Included in the trove are a full 75-minute live set from a night on the 1990 "Clash of the Titans" tour and a DVD of highlights from a 1992 stop supporting Countdown - two historical shows, both making their release debuts on Warchest. The set's custom "vac-u-form" packaging showcases a 3-D ammo belt on its front and a 36-page booklet with an essay by Ian Christe and a comprehensive discography, complemented by an array of photos and images.

Dave Mustaine says, "This is, by far, the best and most comprehensive look at all-things-Mega if you had to get a crash-course in metal! With some of the most famous, and infamous, shows and any of the fluid, or flammable, line-ups, listening to this box set when it was all done was an adrenalin surge. I have got to hand it to my past band mates, they played great for how turbulent times could get in the blink of an eye, and I absolutely love every moment of this collection."

Megadeth was formed in 1983, shortly after California native Mustaine parted ways with Metallica. "When I first started the group, I wanted to form a band because I was very bitter about being fired (from Metallica) and my fuel was revenge," said the bracingly candid musician. With something to prove, Mustaine initially set out to create the heaviest metal band ever. Beginning with the band's 1985 debut album, Killing Is My Business...And Business Is Good!, and evolving through a shifting series of lineups, Megadeth crafted a dynamic, intelligent style that combined the aggressiveness of thrash metal, the improvisational nature of jazz, and cynical, articulate, politically-charged lyrics into an innovative mix that built a rabid worldwide following.

Several early albums, including 1986's classic Peace Sells...But Who's Buying? and the masterful 1990 release, Rust In Peace, solidified the band's underground metal fanbase. In 1992, Megadeth burst into the mainstream with their fifth album, Countdown To Extinction, which debuted at #2 on Billboard's Top 200 Albums chart and went on to sell more than two million copies in the U.S. alone. 1994's Youthanasia followed with a #4 debut, while 1997's Cryptic Writings yielded four Top 20 hits at rock radio, including "Trust" and "Almost Honest."

By the time of 1999's Risk, however, which featured a pop slant unheard on previous Megadeth recordings, Mustaine himself began to grow disillusioned with the band's direction and the music industry. 2001 saw a return to the band's heavier roots on The World Needs A Hero, but a year later, a compressed nerve in Mustaine's arm forced the singer and guitarist to put his career and Megadeth on hiatus, while reassessing both.

Part of that reassessment involved Megadeth's Capitol Records catalog, which began with the band's second album, Peace Sells...But Who's Buying? "I always had the desire to make So Far, So Good...So What! (1988) sound good ever since it came out, because I wasn't really happy with it," says Mustaine. "I just wanted all of them to sound good." Mustaine spent months remixing, remastering, restoring - and in some cases, reconstructing - the band's Capitol catalog to bring it as close to his original vision as possible. Each reissue was packed with unreleased tracks, demos and alternate mixes, as well as new liner notes by the iconoclastic Mustaine.

Megadeth's tenth studio album, 2004's The System Has Failed, debuted at #18 on Billboard's Top 200, and the band's sold-out "Blackmail The Universe" tour followed, supporting the new album and Capitol's extensive catalog campaign. Dave Mustaine's "GIGANTOUR," inspired in name by the classic 1960s cartoon "Gigantor," took Megadeth and a host of other bands selected by Mustaine across North America and in 2005 and 2006. The prophecy continues with the band's new critically acclaimed album, United Abominations. Megadeth will invade cities across the U.S. this fall on the band's "United Abominations Tour Of Duty."

For the majority of three decades, Megadeth has yanked heavy metal into the future - musically, lyrically, and culturally - and worked the raw soil into something desirable and dangerous. With defiance and grace, through unusual quality and intelligence, Megadeth has raised a generation on a diet of truth serum and bitter pills. Instead of being kicked to the curb for their insolence, they've been rewarded with seven Grammy nominations and five platinum and multi-platinum albums. Just shield your eyes, open the Warchest, and count the notches on Megadeth's bullet belts.

Tuesday, March 27, 2007 - Megadeth - Full-Length Version Of 'A Tout Le Monde (Set Me Free)' Available For Streaming
Megadeth's new version of the song "A Tout Le Monde", now retitled "A Tout Le Monde (Set Me Free)", is available for streaming in its entirety at this location (Windows Media).

"A Tout Le Monde", which originally appeared on the 1994 CD "Youthanasia", has created controversy because the song was cited in an online post by Dawson College killer Kimveer Gill as one of his favorites before his Montreal shooting spree last September. MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine contends that he wanted to give the song a second shot at success, as the original video for it had been banned by MTV, and most radio stations followed suit. The track ended up featuring Cristina Scabbia from Italian alt-metal act LACUNA COIL. "The first singer didn't work out," Mustaine told Straight.com, "the second one didn't work, and the third one was Lisa Marie Presley. She was on the way to the airport, and we had to call and say, 'Sorry, we changed our minds.' I would have loved to have heard what Lisa Marie Presley would have done, but because of the demographics of the LACUNA COIL fan base, and Cristina's reign in the heavy-metal business, it was the right thing to do."

A video clip of Cristina Scabbia talking about the video shoot for "A Tout Le Monde (Set Me Free)", which took place March 8-9 in Los Angeles, has been posted online at this location.

Commented Cristina: "[Dave Mustaine] actually asked me to be part of this duet, and I was really surprised about it because 'A Tout Le Monde' is a song that I've always loved, even if it's not like the new [version] because [the original song] [was released on] the album 'Youthanasia'. It was a big surprise for me to get this invitation â?" I was really honored to be part of it. And seriously, when I heard the final result, I was awesomely surprised 'cause I think that the two voices are fitting incredibly [well together]. I think that the version of 'A Tout le Monde' 2007 has a stronger attitude. If the original version was for the mellow mood, this one is way more rock, way more powerful. I totally love it. I was surprised myself, and I think that a lot of people will be pleasantly surprised.

"It was recorded, like an hour from Birgmingham [England]. So I flew in and recorded my parts with Andy Sneap [producer]. He's [Andy] an amazing guy â?" super professional â?" and the atmosphere in the studio was so relaxed. It was like a family vibe, and I think that's the most amazing thing when you have to work. You can work and still smile, you know, and be relaxed.

"I tracked the entire song because we weren't really sure what we had to do, so we just wanted to be totally sure, so we recorded all the parts that Dave sung with some improvisation with it, double vocals. We basically made anything possible, so they could pick up whatever they wanted to."

"A Tout Le Monde (Set Me Free)" will appear on MEGADETH's new album, "United Abominations", due on May 15 via Roadrunner Records.

Sunday, January 21, 2007 - New Megadeth album release date
An update from Dave Mustaine of Megadeth:

"....So, yes the May 8th date (for United Abominations) is finally confirmed now that the mix is nearly done. I hate saying when release dates are, because sometimes they change, and you have to deal with nay-sayers who behave like the ultimate inch of colon, but I would rather this record was finished to my standards, and above (which it is . . . about time, I know) then put out a soft record.

Metal needs a really good old-school record again. I believe I have delivered. It ain't RIP2, but it could be the record that makes me forget about everything in-between.

Love to all of you that I saw at NAMM, and that saw me on the net thanks to the interviewing pianist."

Thursday, September 5, 2002 - New Megadeth release
Dave Mustaine posted the following update at www.megadeth.com recently: "September 10th brings along a new Megadeth release, featuring never released live tracks and a selection of previously released studio tracks. The new tracks were recorded at the Web Theater in Phoenix, Arizona November 17, 2001. This was the last concert for Megadeth prior to my departure, the recording was done for the Live CD and DVD Rude Awakening. There were additional tracks that were not on that record, we've included them on this new release. My return to the studio with Bill Kennedy to finish up the mixing and mastering for the six live songs was really invigorating, these tracks sound amazing. It was awesome to hear how good the band really was. As for me, my arm is continuing to heal according to the Doctors projections and I have even been picking up the guitar every now and then. I am getting excited to start playing and writing again. Trust me, you'll be hearing from me soon. I would like to say thanks to everyone for supporting the band, for your understanding of my position and the decision I had to make, for all of your encouragement while I was healing, and rest assured that you haven't heard the last of Megadeth or Dave Mustaine."

Other information
Megadeth is to me a very special band. This is one of the first ever Metal albums I bought, and the album was the brilliant "Countdown To Extinction". I will never forget the look on my mothers face as she saw the cover art. It was a great experience to get to know this band.

I am also a huge fan of Megadeth. I first got interested in them not too long ago and love their music. It would be excellent if Dave could recover soon and then I could see them live. I hope Dave recovers quickly and perfectly.

yeh countdown to extinction is their best album. it was extremely implicit. they sung about some of the important issues like conformity, how governments came to power(usa), and of course corruption in our gavernment

EXPERIENCE
I HAVE PLAYED METAL GUITAR FOR 18 YEARS! METAL IS THE ONLY MUSIC THAT I ENJOY PLAYING. LUCKILY IT INCORPORATES SUCH A WIDE VARIETY OF STYLES THAT IT MAKES PLAYING EXCITING CHALLENGING AND INTERESTING.
BANDS LIKE BLACK SABBATH- OZZY- JUDAS PRIEST TO METALLICA- SLAYER - MEGADETH ARE THE TOP GUITAR METAL BANDS I ENJOY PLAYING ALONG TO. THESE BANDS GIVE ME MY MUSICAL DIRECTION.

EQUIPMENT
MY AMP IS A MARSHALL 9200 100/100, THE BEST AMP EVER MADE!
MY PRE AMP IS A MARSHALL JMP-1, THE BEST PRE AMP EVER MADE!
MY EFFECTS PROCESSOR IS AN ELESSIS 2101 ARTIST.
I USE A JACKSON V AND IBANEZ S-SERIES.

MISSION STATEMENT
I WOULD LIKE TO APPLY FOR A GUITAR PLAYING JOB WITH DAVE MUSTAINE OF MEGADETH. I KNOW I HAVE THE TALENT AND EQUIPMENT FOR THE JOB.
I HAVE JUST MOVED TO ORANGE COUNTY 8/6/04 TO PLAY MUSIC ON A REGULAR BASIS.

I really didnt know what heavy metal was until I heard Holy Wars and Five Magics.

These tracks are absolutely superb and have engraved a lasting impression on me. Megadeth"s lyrics are profound and well versed .My best wishes to the band members.
