Wednesday, June 15, 2011 - Judas Priest Issue Farewell Tour Clarification | British heavy metal legends Judas Priest have issued the following update:
"We would like to clarify a situation that seems to be confusing a few people out there.
When we issued our press release to announce the farewell tour, we stated that it was the last major world tour for Judas Priest. Nothing has changed, we didn't say it was the end of the band or that we were going to retire or the band was going to break up... just that it would be the last major world tour we would be doing, which is still the case.
We have plans for a new album (which we have already announced in an earlier press release), plus possible future releases, and we would still consider doing the odd live show - if it is something special or for a great cause - but no more world tours." · Discuss this news further (0) |

Friday, April 22, 2011 - K.K. Downing Releases Statment Regarding Quiting Judas Priest | Former Judas Priest guitarist K.K. Downing has released the following statement regarding his departure from the band:
"Dear friends,
It is with much regret that I will not be with you this summer.
Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your concerns about my health. Please rest assured that I am OK.
There has been an ongoing breakdown in working relationship between myself, elements of the band, and the band's management for some time. Therefore I have decided to step down rather than to tour with negative sentiments as I feel that this would be a deception to you, our cherished fans. However, I would urge you to please support the Priest as I have no doubt that it will be a show not to be missed.
All my love and respect." · Discuss this news further (0) |

Thursday, April 17, 2008 - Judas Priest - Nostradamus album details | Over two years in the making, Judas Priest will finally unveil its 16th studio album, Nostradamus, June 17 via Epic in North America and a day earlier internationally.
A double-disc set that tells the story of the 16th century prophet, Michel de Nostredame (whose name is often 'Latinized' as Nostradamus), the release is Priest's first-ever concept album, and was recorded throughout 2006 and 2007 at Old Smithy Studio in the UK.
"Making Nostradamus was a new experience for us in Judas Priest, insomuch as this was going to be a conceptual writing and recording event," Priest singer Rob Halford tells Billboard.com. "His life is well-documented, so for us it was all about taking the significant episodes he went through, and then with the right emotion, create music and lyrics that would convey them."
On the album, Halford, guitarists K.K. Downing and Glenn Tipton, bassist Ian Hill, and drummer Scott Travis spread their stylistic wings, experimenting with symphonic orchestration and choirs.
Three configurations of Nostradamus will be issued. The most common will be a regular jewel-cased double CD, but there will also be a "CD deluxe hardbound version," which features a 48-page booklet, while a "super deluxe version" will include three vinyl records (in addition to the CD deluxe packaging, plus a poster).
While there have been some European dates announced in support of Nostradamus (the chief one being a performance as part of this year's Download Festival in England, which also features KISS and MOTÖRHEAD, among others), there will soon be an announcement about Priest's plans for a U.S. tour.
In the meantime, Halford dropped a hint as to what's in store for the group's later headline dates. "As we recorded and listened to the music, and much like a lot of Priest songs, you cannot help but see images in your mind. We constantly thought about special effects and visual elements that will connect musically that we want to use onstage when we will perform all of 'Nostradamus' live," he says. "Again, like every song we compose, the transition from studio to concert is one we think about and make sure we can deliver the goods."
Here is the track list for Nostradamus:
Dawn Of Creation - "Prophecy" Awakening - "Revelations" The Four Horsemen - "War" Sands Of Time - "Pestilence And Plague" "Death" Peace - "Conquest" "Lost Love" "Persecution" Solitude - "Exiled" "Alone" Shadows In The Flame - "Visions" Hope - "New Beginnings" Calm Before The Storm - "Nostradamus" "Future Of Mankind"

Judas Priest are currently in the studio working on their upcoming concept album about the life and predictions of 16th-century French prophet Nostradamus. In an EXCLUSIVE chat with BW&BK on February 17th, guitarist K.K. Downing stated that "the music is running an a hour and 39 minutes at the moment. So it's literally almost twice as long as what we've done previously. This concept is going to be that way, pretty intense, in-depth and length - and hopefully a masterpiece."

Friday, January 5, 2007 - Judas Priest album update | Launch Radio Networks reports: Things are going well with the recording of the new Judas Priest album. It's a concept album about the 16th Century French prophet Nostradamus, and the band has started thinking about release dates. Frontman Rob Halford told Launch that everyone's excited about the project. "The writing sessions were fantastic, some of the best writing that Glenn and K.K. and myself have ever created, and we're in good shape, we're recording. And finger's crossed, and with the belief that it's ready when it's ready, we should be out by the middle of 2007 with 'Nostradamus'."
Judas Priest is also working out the details for a stage show to go along with the album's subject matter.

Wednesday, November 1, 2006 - Judas Priest album news | Judas Priest news from Rob Halford:
"All the Nostradamus writing sessions are completed," says The Metal God, "and Ken (K.K. Downing - guitar) and Glenn (Tipton - guitar) are in the studio at the moment doing their bits. So that is going to take a while because it is just massive."
Have you written about lyrics yet for it? "I have the bulk of them sketched out. I have just come back to San Diego for a little bit of a break end to support this big slew of Halford reissues. I am working on my Nostradamus lyrics as we speak. On this recent trip I can't remember how long I was in England. It was over a month. The writing sessions have taken about three months, much like they did for Angel Of Retribution (2005). There are still ideas coming up for Nostradamus all the time, but the bulk of it is done."
When asked about the monstrous undertaking so late in their career, Halford beams - "Isn't it great, it is our first ever concept album/metal opera. We are just so stoked about that. After the critically acclaimed Angel Of Retribution and the success the metal fans gave us for that record, it would been an even bigger task to to go in and do another studio album. And then Nostradamus raised his head and we all went 'Oh my God, this is unbelievable, did Nostradamus prophecize that Judas Priest would be doing at metal opera about his life in 2007?' It is so cool isn't it? We are just immersed in the land and world of Nostradamus right now. It is incredible."
Halford adds: "Our feeling in Priest with Nostradamus was that the fans have been clamoring for a concept album for as long as we've been together. Some people think that Painkiller (1990) was a concept album. Some people think that Sad Wings Of Destiny (1976) was a concept album. Both of them were not. But this is a moment now, three decades later, where we can put all that thinking in one place, and create this one big metal opera called Nostradamus. And everybody will be happy - in happy metal land we hope!"
