Motochrist - Greetings From The Bonneville Salt Flats
Heat Slick Records send me this CD along with Junkyard's "Tried and True". With no expectations at all, Mötochrist surprised me with their unpretentious cocktail of Rock N' Roll.

Singer/bass player Danny Nordahl and lead guitarist Marc Diamond formed Mötochrist in 1998. The band is inspired by Ramones adding their own shot of Rock N' Roll filled with catchy hooks. To tribute their roots Mötochrist have covered Ramones' I just Wanna have Something To Do in a version true to the original.

Mötochrist sounds like America's counterpart to The Hellacopters. Out of Control is amazing Rock 'n' Roll with a great bar-piano along it.

"Greetings from the Bonneville Salt Flats" highlights include Danny Nordahl's compassionate vocals on Holiday. The lyrics are great with lines like "Every day feels like New Year's eve, now that you're gone" and "I don't care where you are, I'm just glad that it's really far". I know whom I have in mind when listening to the song, since it's the perfect fuck off tune to your ex-girlfriend. Holiday is also a perfect example of Mötorchrist ability to write a melodic Rock tune that you keep humming. Other prime examples are Someday and Nuthin' Right.

Basically this record is pure Rock 'n' Roll played full blast. Like the band name and artwork indicates, the band is inspired by cars. The salute to cars Real fast Car is among the highlights with some great slide playing. The chorus line goes "All I want is my girl and a real fast car" It's a fun party record, which is understated with the song title 6 Shooters, 6 Strings & 6 Packs.

The raw attitude of the band fits the music perfectly. Danny Nordahl's vocals sound excellent and the production on the album is great.

Mötochrist's motor Rock can be a bit monotonous throughout the whole record. This kind of music is best performed on stage. Overall a good record with plenty of good stuff, which definitely is worth the money if you're into kick ass Rock 'n' Roll.
