Arcade featured platinum rock stars
Stephen Pearcy from Ratt and
Cinderella drummer Fred Coury. Also included was guitarists Franke Wilsex from Sea Hags and Donny Syracuse.
Arcade follows the style of Ratt with slamming hard rock.
Like the title indicates, this is a mix of live tracks, demos and one unreleased song called
All Night Long, which is a typical Ratt 'N' Roller. The remaining 12 songs are actually the whole debut album from
Arcade, which was released in 1993. Thereby no tracks from "A/2" released the following year.
Arcade had 2 minor radio hits
Cry No More and
Nothin' to lose, which both are included in demo versions.
Nothin' to Lose hasn't lost anything in the demo version. Pearcy's characteristic voice is amazing on the bridge to the chorus.
Cry No More should have been a huge hit. The ballad contains a great chorus and even in this demo version the backing vocals sound consistent. There is a great guitar solo, which form a synthesis with the chorus. I keep humming
Cry No More after spinning this CD.
There is an unpolished live version of
Screaming S.O.S. taken from
Arcade's performance at Milwaukee Summerfest in 1993. The crowd is shouting for Ratt, but Stephen yells "We got some
Arcade for ya" and blasts out
Screaming S.O.S.
Arcade has a melodic restraint to their songs, which is perfectly exemplified on
Messed up World. The Country and Blues sounding ballad
Mother Blues displays the diversity in
Arcade's material. 2 guitars only accompany Pearcy's shrill voice, but still the song holds up perfectly.
Overall the recording quality is really good, which makes this a must for all hard-core fans of Ratt,
Arcade and
Stephen Pearcy.
