Robert Fleischman - World in you Eyes
It only took Robert Fleischman more than 20 years to complete his second solo effort but don't hold that against him.

Robert Fleischman is the former singer of Vinnie Vincent's invasion. The high screams are replaced by a more mellow singing style. It seems like he is very comfortable with his voice and range.

Robert has now come full circle playing AOR rock like Journey, where he was a member in their experimental days before Steve Perry joined the band. The smooth sounding song Heaven To Me could easily been a track off Journey's comeback album "Trial By Fire".

This album is like most good wine. It is even more enjoyable as time passes by. I have had this album in my cd player for almost 2 months and I still enjoy it a lot. "World in your Eyes" is a strong consistent collection of AOR songs. My only objection against this album is that, while it is consistent, it doesn't have enough really strong songs to uplift the album to a classic.

This album would be the perfect sound collage on a hot summer night, while having a barbecue. I have the impression that this would be perfect prelude to a great party. The album is not a party album, but the main purpose of this album would be to set the mood for a summer night.

The most outstanding tracks are The Crush and I Can't Sleep at Night. The Crush has a crispy sound and a rhythm, which is bringing associations of Joe Satriani's Summer Song. Instead of Joe Satriani's guitar shredding we get a Robert Fleischman sounding like a well-oiled machine. The absolute highlight I Can't Sleep at Night builds up for the fantastic chorus. The song has a great hook and sing along chorus that you will keep humming for weeks.

I also have a soft spot for the melodic Look at the Dream. This semi-acoustic song has a melodic chorus and a great middle play with strings, which leads to a great guitar solo.

A great thing about this release, which differentiates this from other in this genre, is the guitar work. This album isn't drowning in wimpy keyboards. The style is AOR with a harder edge. Robert Fleischman has got Josh Ramos (Hardline) to provide some great guitar throughout the record. Especially on the strong album closures Just One Kiss and Walking on Fire. Both songs are guitar driven songs and especially Walking on Fire is a bit harder than the other songs. The song has a great atmosphere and is fired up for the chorus, which leaves the listener wanting more.

The album is well produced by Kelly Hansen from Hurricane and he also contributes with backing vocals.

Robert has co-written Journey's Wheel in the Sky, while he was in the band. "World in your Eyes" proves that Robert still got the skills to write some amazing songs and also got some great pipes. The album maintains a high standard and is highly recommendable for fans of AOR and melodic rock.
