In 2008
RevelationZ Magazine featured a review of
Vegas Vampire´s
Lovesick CD-single, which was a forerunner to this album slated for a release early 2009. The review said
"
Early 2009 seem like a long waiting time because Love Sick really worked up an appetite for more. It is impossible to judge the band after one song, but Love Sick is an exciting and fresh track from the seasoned rockers. Vegas Vampire's debut album "Chapter 1" is one to watch!" Well, we had to look for the album for almost 2 years, but finally "Chapter 1" sees the light of day.
Vegas Vampire is fronted by bassist and singer Emil Bendixen, who played bass in
Mike Tramp's band on the "Recovering the Wasted Years" album.
Mike Tramp is Bendixen's connection to guitarist Rene Shades who played guitar in Tramps touring band. Rene Shades had also been playing on the first sleaze record in Denmark, namely Sateria's "Crash Boom Bang".
The production of the record is superb and
Vegas Vampire certainly has an American touch. This is modern Hard Rock but don't let the word modern scare you. The band writes great hooks and "Chapter 1" is packed with infectious melodies. The favorites are
My Bad and
Favorite Drug. The personal touching lyrics for
In the Name of the Father gets under your skin and the stripped down ballad
Sick of You proves mastermind Emil Bendixen has got great pipes and a great tone. The catchy
If I Ruled the World is an ideal example of that melody drives the songs. The album closes with the splendid moody Duran Duran cover
Save a Prayer.
Bjarne Holm (Fate,
Mike Tramp and Mercyful Fate) has helped with a few drum tracks. Since this is a duo these 2 seasoned musicians should gather some colleagues and get on stage performing as
Vegas Vampire. They got the songs to make it a lot farther than a few bar shows in Spain.
Great record!
