Talk about a comeback!
Treat has made a big contribution in making 2010 a year to remember, Coup De Grace is simply put a phenomenal Melodic Rock album where everything seems to click.
A sense of epic grandeur unfolds as the historical quotes from
Prelude: Coup De Grace rolls by, a cool opening leading into the hard driven
The War Is Over, some fantastic bass parts to be found in this one.
The heavy roar coming from
Papertiger is so overwhelming that it challenge your balance, pounding drums and smashing guitars going into a magnificent chorus that will spin in your head for the rest of the day. Anders Wickstrøm's guitar sound has a metallic edge that's incredibly forceful and the clever way the keys supplement the intriguing rhythm path just shows excellent songwriting skills.
With keyboard moods reaching heavenly dimensions the mega ballad
Life To Die For goes straight to the heart. Rich, full-bodied and smooth this wonderful sip of tenderness stands proud, simple in structure but extremely well executed.
Tangled Up feeds on a cool groovy rhythm, but something really memorable would have been nice.
Skies Of Mongolia has a great epic feel to it but somehow the chorus appears too simple. Two solid tracks but not quite up there with the rest.
Robert Ernlund's voice is strong and vibrating throughout the whole album,
Heaven Can Wait with one of the catchiest choruses I have ever sung along to is a clear favorite moment on this magnificent album.
Last year I hailed
Danger Danger's Revolve for the best production (apart from being a killer disc) I had heard in a long time, this is in the same league...so much power but so elegantly balanced out, and then it's just wonderful to listen to an album where the bass is up front and so damn tasty.
If I had to pick out a few selected songs that would somehow sum up what makes great music, I had to have
No Way Without You as one of them. First off, the chorus, huge, all embracing and tearing down everything. Then there's the soaring guitar solos, simply heaven sent.
Next up you could point out the delicate keys lifting the spirit even higher. Then there's the powerhouse rhythm section and the...Oh well, I rest my case.
To balance things out
We Own The Night delicately unfolds it's
AOR magic, this is just such an amazing composition. The backing vocals sound incredible and the lucid atmosphere almost becomes hypnotic.
All For Love was one of the last songs that really showed its full potential but what potential! A heartfelt package filled with melodic bliss, just listen to the way Robert extends the chorus a bit at 3:26, no less than brilliant.

I'm Not Runnin' and Breatless are all classy songs too, crisp, well executed and definitely hard rocking.
