Sgt. Roxx - Weapon of Miss Distraction
Another blast from the past: Sgt. Roxx, who in their heyday released 2 demos.

In 1987 the 10 track demo "Squeeze it some more" was released and in 1990 Sgt. Roxx released their final roar "Push and Squeeze"....... at least till now.

Eonian Records has teamed up with the band and released  "Weapon of Miss Distraction" on CD. The CD contains 20 tracks re-mastered from the original tapes and again the Eonian brand equals quality. The sound is exceptional on the first 10 tunes, but a bit dated on the last 9 tunes.

This release includes re-mastered versions of 1990's "Push N Squeeze" plus 14 other never before heard archived recordings. Also included is a session that Sgt Roxx recorded for CBS.

Sgt Roxx was based in Chicago and along with the likes of UZI, Enuff Z'Nuff they tried to direct focus at the windy city. In L.A. the scene was happening at hangouts like Gazzaris and The Roxy - Chicago had the Thirsty Whale. Eonian has once again put spotlight on the healthy music scene in Chicago. A must for everyone who experienced that era and a good listen for the Hard Rock fans.

The rocking album opener All You Need fits on any 80's compilation along the likes of Lillian Axe. Love/Hate etc. Why'D you Lie is a step toward bubble gum glam ala Pretty Boy Floyd.

Sgt. Roxx's force is their ballads. The classic power ballad Movin On is the highlight of "Weapon of Miss Destruction". The song changes between acoustic and electric guitars. Also Don't Cry is a touching ballad with a guitar solo that gives you goose bumps.

Since the CD captures most of Sgt. Roxx's work and is an extensive 19 track release you are full after digesting the whole album. Of course there has to be a few misses on such an extensive release but take it as bonus that Eonian choose to compile so many tracks making it a comprehensive and definitive Sgt. Roxx release with 79 minutes playing time.
