Babylon Bombs - Babylon's Burning
"Babylon's Burning" is the third album from Babylon Bombs! The band proved vital and in top form when they convinced yours truly at Sweden Rock festival 2009 with a stunning set.

"Doin' You Nasty" was a great album, which left expectations high for "Babylon's Burning". The album doesn't disappoint. Producer Chris Laney is a big part of this album since Laney has been in a playful mood with effects and even strings. The production is modern and Babylon Bombs comes off more sophisticated meaning that the music has more aspects and suits the evolution of Babylon Bombs.

Liberation opens the album quite bombastic with Babylon Bombs blasting out Hard Rock accompanied by an orchestra. Liberation sounds like a theme from a James Bond movie.

Resurrection Love is also a bit more bombastic and Babylon Bombs definitely worked more on the arrangements.  The guitar solo is stunning and the mid-tempo Resurrection Love grows. The song has a great emotion much alike the first HIM albums without sounding like HIM though.

It's Alright has a chorus that gets you hooked immediately. For sure this will be a single and definitely one of the best songs of the year.

The album is consistent with lots of melodic rockers like Shine on, Rattle My Bones and Goodbye Good Luck. Winding Road rocks big time a great melody line, verse and chorus. Babylon Bombs proves that they can still play snotty Rock N Roll on the attitude packed Nobody's Home.

Song writer Dani writes melodic tunes with emphasis on hooks and a catchy chorus. As a singer Dani has progressed and his voice sounds fantastic on this release. His tone is unique and suits the music.

What made Babylon Bombs' concert at Sweden Rock so unique was the tightness of the band and skilled musicianship. Since the first album Babylon Bombs has improved and "Babylon's Burning" is their best release so far.

"Babylon's Burning" is too good to be lost in the stream of excellent album that is released autumn 2009.

BUY IT!

Hey Michael, it's been a while. My total agreement to your review. The album has that specific Cinderella-vibe not many bands nowadays manage to capture and yep, no fillers. I even would have given it 8,5 points. Favourites: "Rattle My Bones", "It's Allright", "Winding Road" and "Nobody's Home". Without any doubt one of my top-five releases this year and the wish for a Cinderella/BB-package in 2010 (if Swaint recovers). Thumbs up, see ya, Gruezze, Dennis.
