D'Molls - Double Platinum
Originally formed as The Chicago Molls by guitarist SS Priest, Singer/guitarist Desi Rexx, drummer  Billy Dior and bassist Lizzy Valentine. The band changed name to D'Molls just before moving from Chicago to Los Angels. 2 weeks in the city of angels was all it took D'Molls to convince Atlantic Records and in 1988 they released their debut album "D'Molls".

"Double Platinum" is a live recording and the setlist is mainly based on the first record. The self-titled debut was often criticized for not capturing the live feel of D'Molls because of the production. This live recording really ignites the songs.

The band consists of original members Desi Rexx and S.S. Priest. The album is captured during 2 nights - D'Molls playing one night in their hometown Chicago and one night at the Key Club in their career's hometown Los Angeles. Desi Rexx and S.S. Priest uses different backing band on both night but that doesn't hamper the recording nor ruins the consistency.  Since the recording is from 2 different shows there are pauses with fading between the songs. It ruins the flow a bit - think back to AC/DC's live album from 1992.

The sound is great even though the audience is beefed up by studio tools. Rally Baby and Turn it Up Louder bounces and rocks the house. D'Molls certainly has penned some great songs. The concert closer D'Stroll must have convinced everyone present at the shows.

For unknown reasons D'Molls totally neglects the brilliant second album "Warped". Even though the line-up lacks 50 percent of the original members, SS Priest and Desi Rexx puts on a strong performance and hopefully new material is under way.
