Pistol Dawn - Conversation Piece
Eönian Records is a great competitor to Suncity Records releasing older demos, unreleased albums from bands that had their heyday in the late 80's. For fans of this style this is a delicacy. Eönian's new found reputation has been further cemented as they have become the home of several musical icons of Chicago's legendary music club The Thirsty Whale such as Pistol Dawn.

Back then Pistol Dawn shared stage with Midwest bands like Cheap Trick, Enuff Z'Nuff, Dangerous Toys and Lillian Axe. Chip Z'nuff produced their first demo, which is represented by the first 6 tracks here. Chip even co wrote Message in a Bottle. The title track is taken from their first demo, which proves that Pistol Dawn was a kick ass Hard Rock band in the vein of Skid Row and Spread Eagle. The guitarist Scotti Ryan delivers some great riffs. Another top track is Be My Girl. Pistol Dawn was solid craftsmen, but they needed a big hit like 18 and Life to break them.

The second demo sees Pistol Dawn moving in a power pop/Pop metal direction with more mid-tempo tunes. The highlight is Stocks and Blonds.

The sound is great and if you have a lead singer that goes by the name Faster Freddie Brecht you know Pistol Dawn is a Glam slam Hair metal band. Great looks as well - check them out!
