Band Profile

What is your name and your current position in the band?

Paul Asher York / Bass and manager.

How would you categorize the style of the band? And did you ever consider or try playing other styles of music than the one(s) you are playing now?

Nu-Classic Rock and Metal. No.

What is your latest album and why should people buy it?

"Before the Fall." It will make you more popular with the opposite sex.

Tell us about the history of the band. More specifically, when was the band formed, how did you meet, and have there been any particular highlights or low points in your career, any crucial events that have taken you where you are today?

We came to be in January 2004. It started with me and the drummer working on demos. I started looking for a singer and ended up finding two guitarists. We found the singer by word of mouth. 2007 was a great year for us as we were playing a lot live but getting nowhere. We started getting attention through a licensing deal and through the internet. No big lows for us. No real highs as of yet. 2009 looks to be a big year for us.

Was there ever a time when you wondered if your band would remain just a local outfit and never make it in the industry?

Truth is, we never thought about making it big. We were just sick of hearing Nu-Metal and wanted to bring back some old-school metal wrapped in a nu-school package.

Can you share with us one or two of your favourite moments with the band?

Drinking with the band after a gig. Drinking with the band at rehearsals.

How is the writing process in the band?

I write complete pieces and bring them to the band. Tryg (vox) and James (guitar) work together. James will come up with some killer riffs and Tryg will add vocal melodies and lyrics. Tryg also writes complete pieces.

What brought you on the path to becoming a musician? Did you ever consider or take any other paths through life besides music?

Music is embedded and has been since childhood, so there is no denying it. We all work day jobs.

Do you have any idols? If yes, who?

Beatles, Kansas, Kings X, Alice in Chains, Dream Theater, AC/CD, Dokken, Stone Temple Pilots, Soundgarden, Yes, Zepplin.

Do you have any regrets looking back at your career? For example any songs or even full albums that you regret recording?  If so, what made you regret it?

No regrets.

Are there particular songs in your catalogue that the fans love but you're not particular fond of yourself?

"All She's Ever Known"

How important do you rate the lyrical side of your albums?

Our lyrics aren't that profound, but we did that with intent. We're not out to preach to anyone. We just want people to relax and enjoy.

What do you think about the state of the music industry today?

It's great if you're not looking to get paid. We now have access to the world through the internet.

What do you think is the best way to fight music piracy?

Do you have a life philosophy? If yes, what is it?

Prepare for the worst, hope for the best.

Can you describe a typical day in your life?

Go to work. Try to make the wife happy. Spend time with the kids. Work on some music.

What do you like to spend your time with besides music?

Wine.

What's the craziest thing that has ever happened on a tour?

Tryg told off some potential label execs prior to us auditioning for them. Suffice it to say, we're still unsigned.

You're heading off to live on a deserted island for a couple of years with your portable entertainment system... Which albums, movies or books would you bring? (Max. 3 of each)

The Matrix, Abbey Road and The Bible.

What is your favourite joke?

Don't know any.

Can you tell us about any future plans for you and your band?

CD #2 is underway.
