Band Profile

What is your name and your current position in the band?

KRACKERJACK / Allan G. Pedersen (vocals) - René Mikkelsen (guitars/vocals) - Claus Greve (organ/keyboards/vocals) - Rasmus Bruun (bass) - Jeppe Christensen (drums).

How would you categorize the style of the band? And did you ever consider or try playing other styles of music than the one(s) you are playing now?

Classic hard rock with a touch of blues and a hint of AOR. We never considered playing anything else. This is a style of music that lies close to all our hearts, and it's where we know we can let our individual talents come out.

What is your latest album and why should people buy it?

"Rock On!" from 2007. Because it's the essence of what Krackerjack is all about. Old school melodic rock.

Tell us about the history of the band. More specifically, when was the band formed, how did you meet, and have there been any particular highlights or low points in your career, any crucial events that have taken you where you are today?

The band was formed in 1997 by René Mikkelsen. We spent our early years playing gigs mainly around our hometown of Vejle, Denmark - occasionally spreading their wings in other parts of the country as well - and perfecting our brand of melodic hard rock. Three of us have known each other since our early teens and we get along very well outside of the band as well. One highlight was our tour of Holland in 2005 around when we released our debut album "Good Thing Goin'". That trip really brough us close together.

Was there ever a time when you wondered if your band would remain just a local outfit and never make it in the industry?

Never!

Can you share with us one or two of your favourite moments with the band?

When we played our 10th anniversary show in Vejle in 2007. It was a free show and we had no idea how many people would show up. When we walked onto the stage and face a full hall, it was indescribable. We were in rock and roll heaven!

How is the writing process in the band?

René has been the main writer since the beginning, but the other guys are beginning to sharpen their claws as well. The next album will be a more collective effort.

What brought you on the path to becoming a musician? Did you ever consider or take any other paths through life besides music?

Never!

Do you have any idols? If yes, who?

We've grown up with bands like Deep Purple, Whitesnake, Thin Lizzy, Thunder, Rainbow and others and we still listen to them.

Do you have any regrets looking back at your career? For example any songs or even full albums that you regret recording?  If so, what made you regret it?

The only thing we regret is taking to long to finally release our debut album. But then again, those types of things are really our of our hands. In a perfect world, we would have ten albums behind us by now. J

Are there particular songs in your catalogue that the fans love but you're not particular fond of yourself?

Not that I'm aware of.

How important do you rate the lyrical side of your albums?

Very important. Not that we try to convey any type of serious message - political or otherwise - but we think that when the lyrics are great and thought through, it can lift the song to a different level.

What do you think about the state of the music industry today?

Sad! But then again - has it ever been really good? J

What do you think is the best way to fight music piracy?

No idea. We're musicians - not industry people. ;-)

Do you have a life philosophy? If yes, what is it?

It would be kind of banal to just say "Rock On!". So that's what we'll do. J

Can you describe a typical day in your life?

Get up. Rock out. Eat. Rock out. Drink. Pass out.

What do you like to spend your time with besides music?

Playing and writing more music.

What's the craziest thing that has ever happened on a tour?

A cab driver in Amsterdam busting one of his tyres driving the band after a gig - after which he chooses to just keep on driving!

You're heading off to live on a deserted island for a couple of years with your portable entertainment system... Which albums, movies or books would you bring? (Max. 3 of each)

Albums:
Deep Purple "Made In Japan"
Kiss "Alive"
Guns N' Roses "Appetite For Destruction"

Movies:
The Godfather
Almost Famous
Detroit Rock City

Books:
No clue. Perhaps the instruction manual to the entertainment system.

What is your favourite joke?

We have no sense of humour. Just kidding!

Can you tell us about any future plans for you and your band?

Basically writing more songs, recording (and releasing) more albums and playing more gigs. And that's about it.

Thanks for answering these questions. Now you are free to write a few lines to our readers.

Well, if you're into the old school side of hard rock - from when dad had hair (and it was long!) - why don't you check out Krackerjack? Come on . we dare ya! :)
