The music of
Jones Street was recorded back in the period 1991-1995, but never saw an album release. Hard Rock wasn't the flavor of week, month or year at any record company executive. In the early nineties grunge took over, but Hard Rock was also determined by a flood of bands trying to cash in. Every major label signed bands that sounded like
Mötley Crüe, Bon Jovi,
Skid Row or whoever topped the charts.
Jones Street got lost in the shuffle, which is unfair since
Jones Street has a unique sound and doesn't sound like any other band of the era. The riffs sound fresh and inspired. Singer Shawn Crosby's pipes are forceful and he sounds like
Jizzy Pearl with a southern tone. Crosby's vocals have tons of attitude.
In 2008
Jones Street releases "Dancing with the Devil" and thank you for doing that.
Jones Street is classy raw sleaze rock in the vein of
Skid Row in their heyday. This is a blast from the past when the likes of
Mötley Crüe ruled the charts. "Dancing with the Devil" is very alike
L.A. Guns debut album, which had lots of punch and great tunes.
Jones Street is just a bit more hard-hitting.
These songs have been shelved in shoeboxes and every Hard Rock fan should praise that these songs becomes available. The album contains 10 kick ass tunes that easily measures with the best names of the sleazy Hard Rock genre. The songs have punch and every track delivers the goods.
Jones Street has their own sound and "Dancing with the Devil" is a must have. Visit the band at
www.myspace.com/jonesstreet and make your own mind.
On a side note; the band has started playing again, so if you are in the area go check them out. Hopefully more material will follow.
