Right after "Town Bad Girl" "Captured Live" and "The Wish" are my favorite
Legs Diamond albums.
"Captured Live" was recorded at an outdoor festival in San Antonio April 28 1990 on the "Town Bad Girl" tour. The crowd is big and
Legs Diamond is on fire. This is a very successful caption of a band peaking musically.
The set list is fantastic and personally I couldn't have picked a better setlist myself. Roger Romeo smokes on guitar and Rick Sanford's vocals cannot be praised enough. The band rocks live and
I am for You, Woman, Out on bail, Satin Peacock and
Underworld King sounds amazing live.
It is one of those shows that you really wish you attended when hearing this record. I get the same feeling hearing "Captured Live" as Thin Lizzy's "Live and Dangerous",
UFO "Strangers in the Night" and
Kiss "Unplugged".
"The Wish" is basically "Town Bad Girl" part II. "The Wish" is packed with great songs but it lacks the handful of standout tracks that its predecessor had. The story of
Legs Diamond is characterized by numerous line-up changes. This time the band again lost their brilliant guitarist Roger Romeo. New guitarist Jeff Stuart Marcus co-wrote half the songs and maybe he is responsible for
Legs Diamond slowing down, since "The Wish" mainly consists of mid-tempo rockers. Fear not that the band gone soft - on the contrary
Legs Diamond has toned down the keyboard in favor of guitars.
The only song that deviates from this bombardment of mid-tempo rockers is the instrumental
What's Da Mattter with U and
Red Light.
Red Light is straight in your face Hard Rock and every time I listen to the song it reminds me of Kix - unpretentious Hard Rock.
.
Favorites off "The Wish":
Street Justice and the party rocker
Nuthin' with trumpets and Rick Stanford once again underlining that he is a tremendous gifted rock singer.
Both albums are reissued on
Legs Diamond's own label Diamond Records.
