Diamond Rexx - Land of the Damned
Lots of mid 80's albums are getting released. Some real gems are revisited and relived, while others were better off as "rare".

Diamond Rexx is a cult band. They originally were considered a glam rock group, but transformed more into a metal formation. Their debut "Land of the Damned" has been a cult classic and it has received an impressive rerelease, being re-mastered and nicely wrapped up in a digipack numerated to 2000 copies only.

Singer Nasti Habits characteristic voice is the trademark of Diamond Rexx. Guitarist S. St. Lust is the best experience on the record since he plays some neat riffs. The music spans wide, but the Glam Rock sticker is an overstatement. "Land of the Damned" is a Metal with a tiny twist of Glam - Lizzy Borden or early WASP is a better comparison. Shock Rock is the best description! The bonus track Sick could easily have been on Alice Cooper's "Brutal Planet" record

If you look at the original release date its justified that this record is being reissued since it's a cult classic and certainly not among the worst releases from that period. However, "Land of the Damned" sounds dated and even back in 86 the music was standard only. In 2008 it becomes a mediocre release. I didn't get the album back in 1986, but unquestionably expected more.
