Band Profile

What is your name and your current position in the band?

David Potvin - lead Guitar

How would you categorize the style of the band? And did you ever consider or try playing other styles of music than the one(s) you are playing now?

Regarding the style, I would say Rock-Metal music. It's pretty hard to define the style since we mix tons of influences we have, not just Metal influences.
I have two other bands called Lyzanxia and Phaze I which are a bit more violent.
I also compose Electro music and I already played in a Rock/blues band. Playing other styles of music is always very interesting.

What is your latest album and why should people buy it?

Our latest album is actually our debut album! Hahaha! It's simply called One-Way Mirror. People should buy it cause the name is really good! Haha!
This is a great new sound for people who are craving something fresh.

Tell us about the history of the band. More specifically, when was the band formed, how did you meet, and have there been any particular highlights or low points in your career, any crucial events that have taken you where you are today?

The band was created at the end of 2005. Guillaume, the singer, called us to ask my brother and I to form a band with him, Dirk and Loic. As we have known these crazy guys since early 2000, when my brother Franck and I were recording the first Lyzanxia album, we said "yes, sure!". Actually Guillaume, Dirk and Loic used to play in a band called Scarve and We have shared the stage many times and partied hard together. I would say that the highlight of our career so far was in 2004 when the band didn't exist at the time, but the whole of us jammed naked on stage in front of 600 people! Hahaha!

Was there ever a time when you wondered if your band would remain just a local outfit and never make it in the industry?

At the very beginning, we created the band just to have fun. Then when friends of ours wanted to listen more, we decided to do something a bit more serious. So if a lot of fans dig One-Way Mirror, we'll be very lucky and glad. If it's not the case we'll still have fun together.

Can you share with us one or two of your favourite moments with the band?

My favorite moment is probably composing with Belgian beers! That was the case with this album. We were together for 15 days drinking strong beers and playing music. This is the best way of composing!

How is the writing process in the band?

You just got it above! We drink beers, we play riffs and melodies, and we don't ask ourselves any questions!

What brought you on the path to becoming a musician? Did you ever consider or take any other paths through life besides music?

I guess it's because my father is also a musician. I wanted to become a high level athlete, but I was more focused on music at the age of 14/15 years old. I guess this period of your life is crucial for the direction of your life

Do you have any idols? If yes, who?

I guess Bruce Lee is one of my idols! He was so creative and passionate.

Do you have any regrets looking back at your career? For example any songs or even full albums that you regret recording?  If so, what made you regret it?

No. I don't regret anything so far. Including my other bands Lyzanxia and Phaze I. I hope that I will never have to regret anything in my career.

Are there particular songs in your catalogue that the fans love but you're not particular fond of yourself?

I'm actually a big fan of One-Way Mirror, so I like all the songs. I would say that one of the song that is having a lot of success is "Relax" the Franky Goes to Hollywood cover. Probably cause it's already an international hit! Anyway we like the way we arranged that song!

How important do you rate the lyrical side of your albums?

Lyrics are very important to us. More in the way they complement the music so well rather than purely the sense. We don't have a specific message, our music and our lyrics simply go hand in hand.

What do you think about the state of the music industry today?

I really don't know what to think about that. But for sure, the Internet will be among the main tools. And maybe the only one left to listen to music.

What do you think is the best way to fight music piracy?

To stop recording albums and play new songs only live on stage!

Do you have a life philosophy? If yes, what is it?

Just have fun and do what you want.

Can you describe a typical day in your life?

Wake up at 8 or 9 am (if possible, depends on the night before). Hand job or blow job. Check my email. Have breakfast or some more pussy. Recheck my emails. Have my daily work out. Check my emails or have more sexy time. have lunch. Record stuff for myself, or record other bands  in my home studio until 7pm. Have 1 beer or 2. Then, the rest of the evening depends on what's going on in town.

What do you like to spend your time with besides music?

I like practicing sport and Martial arts. I also love cinema. And of course hanging out with friends.

What's the craziest thing that has ever happened on a tour?

Toying with wires under the tour bus at 4am to try and restore the fucking headlights to be allowed to cross the Canadian border.

You're heading off to live on a deserted island for a couple of years with your portable entertainment system... Which albums, movies or books would you bring? (Max. 3 of each)

Albums : Rust In Piece (Megadeth), Master Of Puppets (Metallica), Vulgar Display Of Power (Pantera)

Movies ; Terminator 1, Way Of The Dragon, Terminator 2

Books : Robinson Crusoe (to get ideas), Hustler (not a book but.), Terminator (Book version).

What is your favourite joke?

Mika

Can you tell us about any future plans for you and your band?

We'll be touring as much as possible in France and in Europe starting September.
