Band Profile

What is your name and your current position in the band?

My name is Charlie Dominici and I am the singer.

My position is Front Screamer.

How would you categorize the style of the band? And did you ever consider or try playing other styles of music than the one(s) you are playing now?

I've played many styles of music in my life. I play Melodic Progressive Metal now.

What is your latest album and why should people buy it?

"O3 A  Trilogy, part 3"  is the name of the latest CD.
People should buy it because we need the cash!

Tell us about the history of the band. More specifically, when was the band formed, how did you meet, and have there been any particular highlights or low points in your career, any crucial events that have taken you where you are today?

The band was formed by accident, reallyin the summer of 2006. I was looking for musicians to record the second and third parts of the Trilogy when the guys contacted me. They were already a band for 5 years known in Italy and the surrounding areas as "Solid Vision",an original progressive rock band. They have a singer but they felt that they needed to do something as a side project when they saw that I was looking for musicians for my project. We got together and the chemistry was instant. The next thing I knew, the band "DOMINICI" was born. I guess you might call it an "accidental birth" in a sense.

Was there ever a time when you wondered if your band would remain just a local outfit and never make it in the industry?

I wonder about that all the time,e ven right now, while I am writing these answers for you!

Can you share with us one or two of your favourite moments with the band?

I have to say, I have nothing but favorite moments with the band! We have such a blast when we are together either recording, writing or performing that I would find it hard to pick a moment. I guess a "Special" moment would be when I arrived at the airport and met them for the first time. All of my luggage was lost by the airline (they lose it every time, by the way) and I was quite hyper about it. They must have thought I was a complete nut-job. Now that they know me better, they know for sure that I am a complete nut-job!

How is the writing process in the band?

Always fun and rewarding. We write together as if we all grew up together and we really only know each other for 1 and ½ years.

What brought you on the path to becoming a musician? Did you ever consider or take any other paths through life besides music?

I have considered many other paths in life and they always lead me back to this music thing. I cannot escape it. It is my destiny.

Do you have any idols? If yes, who?

Michael Chiklis is one of my idols. Also Al Pacino, Robert De Niro, and a few others. In music my idols have all passed away.

Do you have any regrets looking back at your career? For example any songs or even full albums that you regret recording?  If so, what made you regret it?

I don't regret a single moment of my career or my life. Everything that has ever hapened to me, whether good or bad, has led me to this moment. I am extremely happy and satisfied with my life right now so I cannot complain about a single thing.

Are there particular songs in your catalogue that the fans love but you're not particular fond of yourself?

Everything on WDADU.

How important do you rate the lyrical side of your albums?

The lyrics are only as important as you want them to be. I put a lot of my heart ,soul and mind into the lyrics but if you only want to bang your head to the music, that's fine with me. I did it for myself and no one else. I'm happy with the trilogy and if people read the lyrics and get excited from it then that is a bonus, otherwise whatever happens, happens. In the wider scope of things in this universe,I know that my whole life, not just my music and lyrics, are just a speck of dust in a nano second of history.
With this in mind, I am fulfilled just to hear my cat purr.

What do you think about the state of the music industry today?

I think it is great. The record companies are falling apart and the music is finally being owned by the people who make it and the people who enjoy it.

What do you think is the best way to fight music piracy?

Make it legal to download music and you have eliminated piracy.

Do you have a life philosophy? If yes, what is it?

Yes:

When life gives you nothing but lemons, make lemonade!

Can you describe a typical day in your life?

Imagine a chicken running around with it's head cut off and you can understand a typical day in my life!

What do you like to spend your time with besides music?

Trying to get a bite to eat or a few hours sleep!

What's the craziest thing that has ever happened on a tour?

One of the craziest things that happened on a tour was the gig last June in Budapest, Hungary. We were late and the car we were riding in broke down on the way from Austria to Hungary. We were scheduled to open for Dream Theater for the second night on our mini-tour with them. I sent the truck ahead so we could at least get the gear onstage while we figured out how to get the rest of the band to the show. We were stuck on the side of the highway for 3 and ½ hours. After working on the van engine we finally got going again. We were then lost and stuck in the city traffic looking for the  "Petofi Charnok" outdoor venue with it's 6000 waiting fans and it was 6:58 pm. We were scheduled to play in 2 minutes when we finally found the place by some miracle, and we literally ran from the car onto the stage. The stage manager for Dream Theater asked if I wanted to cut our set short in order to get ourselves together enough to start the show and I sain "No..Start the show". We started the show in our street clothes, unshaven and completely un-warmed up but we played and sounded like we were playing together for 20 years. I am so proud of my band and that moment will live forever in history.

You're heading off to live on a deserted island for a couple of years with your portable entertainment system... Which albums, movies or books would you bring? (Max. 3 of each)

All 3 parts of the" O3 Trilogy" on CD, The complete DVD series of "The Shield"
And any three books by Dr. Michael Sharp!

What is your favourite joke?

How can you tell when a woman has an orgasm?

Who Cares!

Can you tell us about any future plans for you and your band?

We will...We Will......ROCK YOU!!

Thanks for answering these questions. Now you are free to write a few lines to our readers.

Stay Prog and Stay Metal!!

See you on tour!!
