The Cult - Born into This
In 2006 The Cult embarked on a reunion tour. Sadly the band almost neglected the latest studio album "Beyond Good and Evil" and stuck to the classic hits only. It's been 6 years since the last studio album from The Cult, so "Born Into This" was much anticipated.

The album doesn't reach same standards as "Electric", "Sonic Temple", "Ceremony" and "Beyond Good and Evil". The Cult is back but they aren't mad or rebellious like the old days. "Born into This" is a mellow album and the quality of the songs are just above standard.

The pairing of Ian Astbury´s voice and Billy Duffy´s guitar is a match made in heaven. Personally I really want to like this album. "Sonic Temple" is very precious to me and ever since I have loved every Cult album. This album deviates from the classic Cult sound and is most alike the self titled album.

Kudos to the band for not being stuck in the past! However, Billy Duffy´s characteristic guitars aren't present and Duffy is very anynomous on the record. Except for album opener Born into This there aren't any great Duffy riffs or solos.

The album is consistent, but none of the songs stand out. Highlights are the title track plus the rock ballad Holy Mountain with excellent vocals from Ian Astbury.

"Born into This" is a good album, but lacks the usual punch and bite of The Cult.
