Hardcore Superstar - Dreamin´ in a Casket
In 2005 Hardcore Superstar released their 4th studio album titled "Hardcore Superstar" and made me a die-hard fan. The album was given top reviews and ever since the follow-up has been much anticipated.

To satisfy fans´ demand Hardcore Superstar released the teaser single Bastards earlier this year. Personally I wasn't too impressed. However, Bastards didn't even make the album, which left high hopes for the album.

"Dreamin' in a Casket" is basically "Hardcore Superstar" part 2. It sounds very similar to the successful predecessor. The albums deviate by two important factors.

1. Hardcore Superstar has worked a lot on the riffs. Guitarist Thomas Silver has come up with some tasteful and inventive riffs that provide the album with a unique groove.

2. This album lacks catchiness and sing along choruses.

Wrap up: This leads us to a conclusion on the songwriting. The riffs are better and the guitar playing from Thomas Silver is excellent and he has improved a lot. The songwriting isn't as good as the self titled album - Silence for the peacefully is a perfect example. There are too many standard tracks and while it's groovy guitar driven rock, most songs are forgotten soon after. The groovy riffs are at the expense of melody.

The title track delivers the most memorable chorus on this album. The song contains all the things I love about this band with singer Jocke Berg´s voice as the icing on the cake. The title track is the best moment on "Dreamin´ in a Casket" along with Sensitive to the light.

The "Hardcore Superstar" albums had no low points. "Dreamin' in a Casket" has two boring fillers, Lesson in violence and No resistance.

Overall, this album sounds very alike the previous but still I am a bit disappointed. To fulfill my expectations the record needs more hooks and variation. All songs are groovy up-tempo songs and I sure miss a ballad like Standing on the Verge or a sing along chorus like Wild Boys.
