Band Profile
What is your name and your current position in the band?

Kvebek: I play guitar and scream.

How would you categorize the style of the band? And did you ever consider or try playing other styles of music than the one(s) you are playing now?

Kvebek: We play extreme metal with a twist of melancholy. i have always played extreme and will do so to the end of my days.

What is your latest album and why should people buy it?

Kvebek: our last album is called "the wanderer and his shadow". If you like fast and extreme metal with feeling you should buy the album without hesitation.

Tell us about the history of the band. More specifically, when was the band formed, how did you meet, and have there been any particular highlights or low points in your career, any crucial events that have taken you where you are today?

Kvebek: Pantheon I was Formed in late 2002 and hailing from the city of Oslo, Norway, Me (guitar), John Espen Sagstad (guitar) and Eirik Renton (drums) started PANTHEON-I as an outlet for our fascination of extreme and melancholic music. We recorded but never released a 4-track demo (DEMO MMIII) in mid 2003, this demo was for promotional use only. The demo received great response from the metal-underground and different Magazines worldwide. We then entered the studio once again in January 2004 to record 2 songs. These songs were released on a 7" vinyl by the our selves in September 2004, and once again we received great response worldwide.

After taking in Tor Risdal Stavenes (bass) , Gunhild Mathea Olaussen (violin) and Live Julianne Kostøl (cello) in early 2004 to complete our line-up, the intended sound of PANTHEON I was finally complete! We started doing live gigs, to spread the fast and brutal music of PANTHEON I to the masses.

In the summer of 2004, we decided to record our first full-length album "Atrocity Divine". The album consisted of 11 brand new tracks, and was faster and more versatile then the two previous recordings. It took the us almost a year to finish the album due to economically reasons and the fact that we decided to prioritise live-gigs instead of the record. After completion the album was quickly picked up by "World Chaos Productions" for an early 2006 release.

Eirik decided to leave PANTHEON I in May 2005, as he felt he had lost his inspiration to play drums in extreme metal. Several auditions were spent during the summer of 2005, and we found Dan Theobald from U.K. Blackmetallers "Twisted Autumn Darkness" whose technique and speed took our music to a new level of intensity and brutality. We decided to record a new 4-track promo-cd and it was be sent out solely for promotional reasons in an attempt to help the band secure more gigs! Gunhild left the band in April 2006. Unable to rehearse and spend enough time on PANTHEON I left here no decision but to leave the band.

We set to work on our second full-length album during the summer 2006, and in September we signed to Candlelight Records for future releases. We entered the studio in late November 2006 and recorded our second full-length album, entitled "The Wanderer And His Shaodw". Release date: 2nd April i Europe and 22nd May in USA.

Was there ever a time when you wondered if your band would remain just a local outfit and never make it in the industry?

Kvebek: We have always had our ambitions in order and there for we refuse to be something less than a professional band.

Can you share with us one or two of your favourite moments with the band?

Kvebek: Everytime we play live it is like looking into the portals of hell and hear the screams of a million tortured souls. These are my favourite moments.

How is the writing process in the band?

Kvebek: extremely efficient! we write very good together as a band, and can make songs in a short period of time. the members in the band have a unique atmosphere together and therefore the writing process is very smooth.

What brought you on the path to becoming a musician? Did you ever consider or take any other paths through life besides music?

Kvebek: I have to blame kirk hammet for this one. The minute I heard his solos and saw them live i knew what I wanted to do with my life.

Do you have any idols? If yes, who?

Kvebek: Call me narrow minded, but I must say lars, kirk, and james from metallica. These are the titans of metal and nobody can take that away from them. remember one thing; they may be making crappy albums now, but they have already released the 5 most important releases in metal.

Do you have any regrets looking back at your career? For example any songs or even full albums that you regret recording? If so, what made you regret it?

Kvebek: Yes actually. the song "Solve the enigma". The structure for the song should have been different. I honestly don`t know what happened there.

Are there particular songs in your catalogue that the fans love but you're not particular fond of yourself?

Kvebek: no.

How important do you rate the lyrical side of your albums?

Kvebek: Very important. I don't want to have lyrics there just to fill out the song with vocals. i want to tell the listener something or take them on a bizarre and obscure journey. if you read the lyrics and listen to our music i bet you will get alot more out of the album, and get a new understanding of what lies beneath.

What do you think about the state of the music industry today?

Kvebek. It is alright except for the crappy bands out there. there are alot of bands out there that really suck, but they get far because of their contacts. This is where contacts mean more that creating good music, and that is a shame.

What do you think is the best way to fight music piracy?

Kvebek: A shot in the neck.

Do you have a life philosophy? If yes, what is it?

Kvebek: I am pretty sure there is no afterlife since I cannot remember how it was before I got born. so my philosophy is. You live, you die.

Can you describe a typical day in your life?

Kvebek: Wake up. take a piss. go to work. come home. watch porn. play guitar. sleep.

What do you like to spend your time with besides music?

Kvebek: porn.

What's the craziest thing that has ever happened on a tour?

Kvebek: having a guy backstage while the whole crew fucked his girlfriend. and is was ok for the guy as long as he could sit and talk to us.

You're heading off to live on a deserted island for a couple of years with your portable entertainment system... Which albums, movies or books would you bring? (Max. 3 of each)

Kvebek: Metallica: ride the lightning, Metallica: kill em all and a porn movie

What is your favourite joke?

Kvebek: HIM

Can you tell us about any future plans for you and your band?

Kvebek: We will try to play as much live as possible, and probably release the next album sometime next year.

Thanks for answering these questions. Now you are free to write a few lines to our readers.

Kvebek: are you stealing my water?
