Terry Ilous - Here and Gone
Terry Ilous is best known as the singer for XYZ and "Here and Gone" is compilation of rare tracks recorded for either his solo projects or XYZ. The 18 tracks span over a wide time range, but they do sound consistent. Since the CD is comprehensive with 18 tracks, there are a few downers like the cover version of American Woman.

XYZ fans are spoiled with a raunchy live version of Maggie plus Can´t Get Over You, which is an unreleased XYZ song performed by the original line-up. The acoustic versions of Face Down in the Gutter and Inside Out are recorded by Ilous and various musicians in the later years. They sound all right and probably are collector items for XYZ fans, but the songs that stand out are:

The brilliant Walk on Water and Save Me, which both are taken from the Cage project that Ilous did with Jeff Northrup and a bunch of high class musicians. Walk on Water has a Led Zeppelin feel to it and Ilous´ vocals are all over the track.

Ticket to Hell is driven by a tasty riff. Ilous vocals are perfectly suited for Hard Rock. Out in the Cold features Jack Frost laying down a heavy moody guitar, which makes the song rock big time.

"Here and Gone" contains 75 minutes of music and splendid vocals from Terry Ilous! The CD is a must for fans of Ilous´ strong and distinctive vocals.
