Thursday, November 11, 2010 - Cage - News Update
News From Cage:

Cage will play 2 more shows in San Diego this year and will be locked inside the studio writing and recording their next cd release.  7 songs are already recorded and 4 of them are previewed on the new DVD.  A title has been  chosen for the new cd but will not be revealed until Spring 2011 prior to its' 2nd quarter scheduled worldwide release.  Marc Sasso will once again being doing the cover art. It can also be revealed that plans for the 7th CAGE cd release , including music and topical direction are well underway and will find its' way to the shelves in 2012!

The DVD is finaly done!  It is packed full of material and is a 2 disc set!  The release date has not been set as several companies have expressed interest in releasing it so those negotiations have delayed things a bit.  We cannot wait for it to come out because it kicks so much ass!  As with all CAGE products it is over the top and barely fits on 2 DVD discs!  We kept packing stuff into it until the seams were bursting and the producer said it could not take any more!  Once the deal has been signed a full press release will come out detailing all of its contents!  We hope to slam this out quick so our fans who have been asking for it can get their hands on it.  CAGE has never been stronger and we expect to tour Europe, the Midwest US, the East Coast US, Alaska,Texas and maybe South America and Mexico in 2011.

Hails to you all and please stay in contact with us with at this site and our other sites as well!

Monday, July 5, 2010 - Cage update and new song
Cage have issued the following update:

"We are deep in the writing and recording process of the next CD. Eight songs are nearly done, but we are crushing much more into the process. To follow up (Science Of Annihilation 2009) is quite a task so we are making sure the songs are up to the task".

"We have been playing the new song "War Of The Undead" out live and it has been a blast seeing the fans' reaction to it. Anyone who has not seen the new Cage lineup live has to make a point to get out and witness the rampaging metal assault between the sound and sights; it is killing it!".

Fan-filmed video footage of Cage performing the new song, "War Of The Undead", can be viewed here.

Cage's still untitled sixth album will be out in early 2011.

Sunday, October 5, 2008 - Cage - New Demo track online
Cage have issued the following update:

"Alright all you Cage metal maniacs,

Cage has raised the bar for American heavy metal with every single CD release in their history, but the benchmark had been raised since the release of Darker Than Black in 2003 and Hell Destroyer in 2007.

How did Cage top Astrology? By writing and recording what many have defined as Cage's crowning glory third CD, Darker Than Black. This again put Cage to the test with how do we top Darkert Than Black? By writing one of the genre's heaviest CDs ever to be recorded in the good old USA, Hell Destroyer. With two back to back critical acclaimed Cds released, Cage found themselves in the unenviable but potentially dangerous position of not being able to deliver the goods.

With the addition of our new legendary drummer Norm Leggio (ex-PSYCHOTIC WALTZ), Cage has raised the bar even higher than anticipated.

The new songs combine the best of the Unveiled, Astrology, Darker Than Black and Hell Destroyer CDs, along with a new fire lighting up our creative minds and lots of new musical surprises (can you say speed; blast beats and mayhem?).

Well, we have posted for you all a rough demo version of a song called 'Operation Overlord' from the new batch of kick ass songs being finalized for our upcoming fifth CD, which we plan on releasing worldwide via a soon to be announced new international record label from a very few that we have approached and will select.

So listen to the song, tell us what you like; send us a comment via our My Space website and hold on tight, as the American power metal kings Cage are getting ready to unleash the beast very soon..."

Friday, January 4, 2008 - New Cage material in the works
Latest news from Cage:

The knarly task of writing for the new CAGE cd has begun! Anthony and Dave have been laying down tons of new material to be worked!

Trying to top HELL DESTROYER will not be at all easy. "This will probably be our most difficult album to write", says vocalist Sean Peck. "We are really opening up tons of new avenues with the new drumming situation Norm has blessed us with. This will for sure be the fastest heaviest CAGE ever and I am not just saying the same old shit that everyone else always says. It is probably for real!" Just because it is heavy doesn't make it good so maintaing the CAGE magic is going to be very important. We have some initial song titles that I have revealed on several interviews one being a one song sequal called HELL DESTROYER VS. METAL DEVIL. "That one will be epic" says Norm Leggio "trust me!". It is also very possible that there will be several guest appearences on the record as well. CAGE would like to ask all fans to submit any requests ideas to the forum page. Anyone who has a killer CAGE like riff that they would like to be a part of the new release send us a video or recording and we would love to hear what metal heads are out there. 18 year old TJ Larson had 2 killer riffs featured on LEGION OF DEMONS the next ones could be yours!

Wednesday, October 17, 2007 - Cage - King Diamond tribute song online
Cage have posted their original King Diamond tribute song (called 'King Diamiond') on their official band MySpace page.

The song is an homage to all things King Diamond/MERCYFUL FATE and is a bonus track on the - Hell Destroyer CD versions released in Europe (MTM Music); Mexico (Asenath Records) and Central America / South America (Dynamo Records).

Vocalist Sean Peck states "We wanted to pay tribute to the King and thought that all CAGE and KING DIAMOND fans would enjoy it. Personally, I am a big King Diamond fan and this is my and the band's way of paying tribute to some of his past killer recorded works. The song is written in the spirit of King Diamond's music and name checks characters from the Melissa, Abigail and Them cds. The song is the first track we ever performed live in Mexico from the Hell Destroyer CD and has been going over great live at all of our gigs! We love seeing all the people chant King Diamond at the end of the song!"

Friday, September 7, 2007 - Drummer Norm Leggio joins Cage
Great news from Cage:

Cage have announced the addition of drummer Norm Leggio, formerly of the legendary prog-metal band Psychotic Waltz as the band's newest member.

Norm Leggio previously performed on all Psychotic Waltz releases between 1986 - 1996 (Aslan Demo; Psychotic Waltz Demo; A Social Grace; Into The Everflow; Mosquito and Bleeding).

He also is the owner of all metal record store BLUE MEANNIE RECORDS in El Cajon, California. In addition, he was the co-host of the metal radio show Another State Of Mind on San Diego, California Clear Channel radio station ROCK 105.3 FM for many years.

Cage vocalist Sean Peck states: 'To say we are totally excited is an understatement! Norm brings an entirely new level of drumming to our band that will definitely be noticed immediately at all of our upcoming shows and in our new material we are already hard at work on. We have been friends with Norm for a long time and it is very cool to have him in the CAGE family. We know our fans will be stoked to hear and witness his amazing hand speed and tasty fills. I know he is excited to be heading out on the road again to greet all the Cage and Psychotic Waltz fans around the heavy metal world'.

Monday, August 20, 2007 - Cage Part Ways With Drummer; Seek Replacement
Cage have parted ways with drummer Mikey Neil. The band wishes the best of luck to Mikey on any new musical venture that he may seek. Now the search is on for a new drummer to fill the big shows that Mikey Neil leaves behind.

CAGE is currently seeking the ultimate heavy metal monster drummer that has the musical chops; looks; attitude, the ultimate double bass drum kit and the hunger to join the world's most vicious heavy metal band.

The band is looking for a drummer who plays in the musical styles of either Bobby Jarzombek (HALFORD); Dave Lombardo (SLAYER); Tommy Aldridge (WHITESNAKE); Scott Travis (JUDAS PRIEST); Nicko McBrain (IRON MAIDEN); Mikkey Dee (MOTORHEAD) and Max Duhamel (KATAKLYSM).

All interested drummers who are willing to relocate to San Diego, California need to e-mail a personal biography, band / recording history; pictures (full body and live in action) and pictures of their insane drum kit to CAGE's management at the following e-mails: contact@desertrockusa.com and desertrockusa@hotmail.com

Other information
Band Profile

What is your name and your current position in the band?

I am Sean Peck the lead singer.

Tell us about the history of the band. More specifically, when was the band formed, how did you meet, and have there been any particular highlights or low points in your career, any crucial events that have taken you where you are today?

We formed in 1993 and have been keepers of the flame for real heavy metal. Grunge killed all of our friendly competition in San Diego and that allowed us to rise up a power vacuum of metal and play some huge shows for national acts like Maiden and Priest in our early years. We have always stuck to our traditional metal formula and now are reaping the benefits of blind faith.

Was there ever a time when you wondered if your band would remain just a local outfit and never make it in the industry?

I still wonder that today ha! It is a rough business. So far we have withstood the test of time and with our new release HELL DESTROYER the sky is the limit. This kind of metal is very hot with the kids in America right now!

What is your latest album and why should people buy it?

HELL DESTROYER. It is a full blown heavy metal graphic novel and is rather ground breaking in that it takes Painkiller era metal fury and covers Revelations of the Bible. It is fully illustrated like a comic book with wicked sick pictures that will boil the blood of any metalhead. The European press are calling it album of the year top candidate and a genre defining masterpiece. Besides that ...no reason ha!

How would you categorize the style of the band? And did you ever consider or try playing other styles of music than the one(s) you are playing now?

Never will consider another style or chasing of any trend. In this genre of Judas Priest on steriods style metal with King Diamond type compositions wrapped in a testament mean package, there is little room for experimentation or the essence of the style is easily lost. I try to be innovative on the idea side of the music topically and still push the limits musically and vocally. On this cd my singing was pushed to the very limit of human possibilities!

Can you share with us one or two of your favourite moments with the band?

The show we just did in Mexico City was to a packed Sports Arena just like you draw it up on paper. The light went down and the place erupted on cue. The Mexican fans are really the best and are so responsive to the emotion and energy of the music! Also we opened for DIO and Maiden on the same night that was sick. Priest 2 times was also a big highlight as they are probably my favorite.

How is the writing process in the band?

One of the secrets of our success is that we all practice and write in the studio together. The chemistry is increased and the magic of not only the final song product but our live performance makes us stand out. Anyone who has seen us play can tell you we have the magic that sounds better than the record. That is how it was always for me on my favorite bands.

What brought you on the path to becoming a musician? Did you ever consider or take any other paths through life besides music?

Of course. I sell real estate now and have a very successful company where people freak out when they see the metal maniac come out on stage. I played Division 1 soccer in college and devoted a lot of time trying to make the pros and actually made it in indoor soccer for a short period of time until I was injured. Then I went hardcore on snowboarding, winning some big air contests and competeing in the Alaska extreme snowboarding competition dropping huge cliffs and stuff. Metal kept becoming more and more important and my singing and songwriting kept getting better and better until here I find myself.

Do you have any idols? If yes, who?

Thomas Jefferson and George Washington. Those guys had some fucking balls and wits all in one. The current structure of our government and constitution is fucking genius even though many in our system now are not.

Do you have any regrets looking back at your career? For example any songs or even full albums that you regret recording? If so, what made you regret it?

I dont regret any songs or albums. Like many other musicians I am frustrated at the long struggle having released what many watchers of the genre consider all-time classic cds. Where is the golden goose and ring? The real reward is the banging heads at the shows and the look on the faces of the fans. It would be nice to find true economic success when people are writing that you have one of the top 3 voices in metal. And then some smo band comes out of nowhere with mediocre crap and sells millions it is mind numbing sometimes.

Are there particular songs in your catalogue that the fans love but you're not particular fond of yourself?

Yes, I believe all bands get sick of playing some songs. Our Breaking the Law is a song from our first cd called SHOOT TO KILL and fans love it but my bass player rolls his eyes every time we play it.

How important do you rate the lyrical side of your albums?

I write all the lyrics and it is also I believe a strength. Speaking English as my native tongue doesn't hurt. This concept that we have for HELL DESTROYER has additional text to tell the story as well as the song lyrics. We have always been praised for our intelligent lyrical content and HELL DESTROYER is no exception.

What do you think about the state of the music industry today?

It is impossible to thrive and survive. 99% of every band on the internet has no money, makes no money and will never make any money. All of the bands that people think are making money, I mean big bands on MTV every day are fucking broke. "Unwritten law" had like 3 videos in rotation every day on MTV and I knew the drummer and he didn't have shit! Bands need to get used to playing for the love of it or play covers and work the casino circuit.

What do you think is the best way to fight music piracy?

It is impossible. Just make sure your packaging is top notch like ours is. Our distributor who has done EMINEM and other huge bands says our package is the best he has ever seen. Our "heavy metal Graphic Novel" approach really has set a new standard and has given everyone a reason to buy the disc.

Do you have a life philosophy? If yes, what is it?

Big Tits, Beer and metal. In that order. Appreciate everyday you have on this earth and don't take any loved ones for granted as any of us can be gone in an instant.

Can you describe a typical day in your life?

I get up from under at least 2 hot bisexual chicks in my purple waterbed and turn on my computer to check my massive stock portfolio. Then I make a call to my manager Ben who gives me the days' schedule of interviews and charity events. I then go to the San Diego Chargers training facility and have workout with my buddy Ladanian Tomlison, we throw the football around and shit. Next I usually drop by the studio and write songs for a couple of hours while a groupie usually gives me a blowjob. After that it is time for my mixed martial arts training where I spend about 3 rigorous hours grappling and striking my sparring partner Tito Ortiz. At night I try to unwind and watch the news, that is when I usually will call one of my congressmen Duncan Hunter (who is running for President) and share my feelings and ideas with him. I try to really stay active.

What do you like to spend your time with besides music?

See above

What's the craziest thing that has ever happened on a tour?

I punched out the old singer of Iron Maiden, Blaze Bailey

You're heading off to live on a deserted island for a couple of years with your portable entertainment system... Which albums, movies or books would you bring? (Max. 3 of each)

Crimson Glory - Transcendece
Priest - Painkiller
King diamond - Abigail

Movies:
Aliens
Fantastic Four 2
Blues brothers

Books would just be comic books

What is your favourite joke?

How many New Yorkers it take to screw in a light bulb? None of your fucking business, that's how many bastard!

Can you tell us about any future plans for you and your band?

Rule the world through mind control! I have a very ambitious plan for the next cd but it will probably take an act of congress to pull it off.

Thanks for answering these questions. Now you are free to write a few lines to our readers.

Please contact us at www.cageheavymetal.com and www.myspace.com/cageheavymetal

Go out and buy the cd HELL DESTROYER and ask for it at any store they can get it! If you are a fan of Judas priest Iron maiden or Iced earth you can blindly spend your money on this and rock out!

Thanks everyone

Sean Peck
