What is your name and your current position in the band?
My name is Adam, my current position in He Is Legend is to play a guitar.
Tell us about the history of the band. More specifically, when was the band formed, how did you meet, and have there been any particular highlights or low points in your career, any crucial events that have taken you where you are today?
The band formed completely by accident, you see, years ago my main focus in life was building and maintaining top secret underground caves. As such, I had constructed an elaborate underground tunnel that slowly extended from just under my house, to different points throughout Wilmington NC, the city where we live... well actually I didn't consider myself a resident of the city, because I mostly lived underground in my cave tunnel which was awesome...anyway, so these tunnels were pretty bitchin, and everything was going smooth until one day, I noticed that Matt, Steve, and Schuylar were unknowingly rooting around one of the secret entrances to my tunnel cave. Anyway, so I tracked them down using video surveillance, and ran out there to warn them of the landmines that I had placed around the area, you know for precautionary measures. They just laughed at me because I was wearing this sick ass druid robe, but after all of the hoopla was sorted out, we decided that my sound proof underground tunnels would be a perfect location to start a band, and rehearse, so thats how the band formed.
Exactly.
Some of the highlights of our career would include that time when I saved Steve, Schuylar, and Matt from setting off my landmines and blowing themselves up, that was pretty cool. And also any point in time where we were underground, or like digging and stuff, most of those times are highlights for me...
Was there ever a time when you wondered if your band would remain just a local outfit and never make it in the industry?
I dont think much of local clothes or what people are wearing at any given point in time, but I think I can speak for all of us when I say that most of the time, we'd just rather be underground in some sick ass cave, or like digging and stuff...mm whatever.
What is your latest album and why should people buy it?
-Our latest album is a CD that we made, and people should buy it if they like it because then they could listen to it. I guess they could steal it or something, I dunno, or get it off the internet maybe.
How would you categorize the style of the band? And did you ever consider or try playing other styles of music than the one(s) you are playing now?
We play rock music, we've never even ever listened to music, so I don't even really know what you mean.
Can you share with us one or two of your favourite moments with the band?
(see answer to question 1)
How is the writing process in the band?
The writing process for us usually involves a 6 member druid councel, with, you know, like torches and whatnot, and then theres usually a rubics cube that we use to construct logarithms. Then we go down in the caves for a while and eat stuff thats growing out of the walls, which usually provides us with enough hallucinogenic stimula to think of stuff to write about, and then we make a riff.
It's cool.
What brought you on the path to becoming a musician? Did you ever consider or take any other paths through life besides music?
Yes.
Do you have any idols? If yes, who?
We idolize insects, and stuff.
Do you have any regrets looking back at your career? For example any songs or even full albums that you regret recording? If so, what made you regret it?
I guess I'd have to say my biggest regret would be not continuing the life of an underground cave dweller, oh you mean like in music and stuff, nah, nothin'.
Are there particular songs in your catalogue that the fans love but you're not particular fond of yourself?
Yes.
How important do you rate the lyrical side of your albums?
Lyrics aren't really important at all, unless they're like top secret underground map decoders
What do you think about the state of the music industry today?
North Carolina.
What do you think is the best way to fight music piracy?
I dunno, with cannons and swords and stuff.
Do you have a life philosophy? If yes, what is it?
-"Who farted?"
Can you describe a typical day in your life?
I mostly just wake up and be awesome is all.
What do you like to spend your time with besides music?
(again, see answer to question 1)
What's the craziest thing that has ever happened on a tour?
One time Solid State Records bought us, like... it must've been like 5 large pizzas and 4 liters of soda, it was really good.
You're heading off to live on a deserted island for a couple of years with your portable entertainment system... Which albums, movies or books would you bring? (Max. 3 of each)
I would just take all the robots I've built over time.
What is your favourite joke?
Our band.
Can you tell us about any future plans for you and your band?
Mostly just to be awesome.
