Thursday, July 8, 2010 - Angra announces the new single title and cover artwork | Angra has officially announced the date for releasing the new single from their seventh studio album, "Aqua". The song is "Arising Thunder" which will be uploaded on the official MySpace in the night from Friday July, 9th to Saturday 10th.
According to the guitarist Rafael Bittencourt, "'Arising Thunder' is a strong, fast and captivating song. We didn't want to choose the most commercial track. Our fans will certainly be impressed with its fury and speed that end up in one of the strongest refrains of our entire career. It describes clearly the water element cycles showing the tenuous line from the tempest to the calm".
The vocalist Edu Falaschi, who created the initial concept of the track, says: "This song was originally composed to be a ballad but along the process I realized that it would be better to change for a Power Metal style. Fortunately I was right and this new direction is the most correct to represent the heart of the Shakespeare story! It is violent, dramatic and vigorous in the first lines of "The Tempest"! "Arising Thunder" sounds perfect to an epic start connected to the lyric by a vibrant way showing all the Prospero fury and vengeance wishes. I am sure that our fans will enjoy it and sing with us in our next tour". · Discuss this news further (0) |

Tuesday, September 9, 2008 - Angra Still In Business; Band Just Taking Break | A news update from Edu Falaschi:
Edu Falaschi (vocalist, ANGRA) will release the second album from his band ALMAH (Fragile Equality) on October 17th. In our last newsletter we misleadingly reported that Edu Falaschi and Felipe Andreoli would not be members of Angra anymore because the band has disbanded.
But actually Angra are just taking a break. The band does still exist and both Edu Falaschi and Felipe Andreoli are still members of Angra.
Please excuse this mistake.
Edu Falaschi states: "I must clarify a big misunderstanding that is going on with the Almah promotion. Although I am fully concentrated on Fragile Equality's release and consequent promotion at this moment, I never said "Angra has been terminated".
These are not my words whatsoever!
Angra is not done, we're taking a break, a pause. The band is going through some difficult management issues, and all of us are doing our best to get back on the road. We don't know when it will be possible, but we hope to announce some good news soon.
Almah is no longer a solo project, it's a full time band, but it doesn't mean that me or Felipe have left Angra, nor that the band is over."

Monday, September 4, 2006 - Angra album news | News from Angra:
"Angra is putting the very final touches unto its new album. The CD is going to be released in October and shall be the main event in the band's 15 th anniversary celebrations.
The name of the record has been finally announced. It's called Aurora Consurgens, which is also the title of an old book written by Saint Thomas of Aquin. Such book was used by Jung to establish relations between dreams and different mental conditions. Contrary to the band's latest album, Temple Of Shadows, the forthcoming effort is not a concept album. However, all lyrics do have a common theme: the various mental issues, including suicidal tendencies, schizophrenia, manic depression, sociopathy, etc. The artwork was once again designed by Portuguese artist Isabel de Amorim.
The recordings of Aurora Consurgens began in July at the House Of Audio studios in Germany under the guidance of long time producer Dennis Ward. Aquiles Priester recorded all his drum parts by then. After these sessions, Dennis flew down to Brazil to record all other parts with Kiko Loureiro, Rafael Bittencourt, Felipe Andreoli and Edu Falaschi. The so called Brazilian sessions took place at the Via Musique Estúdios in São Paulo. Thiago Bianchi was the assistant producer. Dennis then flew back to Germany and mixed the material, which is currently being mastered by the renowned Finnish producer Mika Jussila.
Musically, the new album depicts a much heavier Angra. It doesn't mean the usual style of the band is lost, though. In fact, all tunes still rely on the influence of Brazilian music and there's a lot of percussion in the arrangements, several orchestral parts, etc. The songwriting process saw the participation of all members, so the album is quite diversified. At the same time, it maintains all the main characteristics of the band.
As an innovation, a 'virtual single' will precede the release of the new album: fans will be able to download the song 'The Course Of Nature' from the Internet. The artwork of the single will also be online, so it can be downloaded and printed as well. The single must be available around September.
Angra took part of the Brasil Metal Union festival on August 19th and put an end to the Temple Of Shadows world tour, which counted 124 dates overall. The band is now ready to kick off its next world tour and several gigs are already booked. After a couple of warm-up shows in Brazil the group heads up for an Asian minitour. The main event of this short series of gigs is definitely the Loud Park Festival in Tokyo on October 14th . Angra will perform in the main stage, right before the headliner, MEGADETH. Then the band shall visit other Asian nations for the very first time." · Discuss this news further (0) |

Monday, July 26, 2004 - Angra news | Brazil's Angra have set "Temple of Shadows" as the title of their new album, tentatively due in September through SPV Records (NTS Records in France). The follow-up to 2001's "Rebirth" was recorded almost entirely in the group's home country, with only some of the vocals and the keyboards having been recorded in Germany, where the mixing sessions also took place.
This time Angra invited several world-renowned musicians to be special guests on the album, such as Kai Hansen (GAMMA RAY), Sabine Edelsbacher (EDENBRIDGE), Hansi Kürsch (BLIND GUARDIAN) and Milton Nascimento (a very famous singer in Brazil), among others. Like its predecessor, "Temple of Shadows" is a concept album, telling the story of a crusader knight that ends up disputing the ideals of the Catholic Church in the eleventh century. He is known as The Shadow Hunter. His way of thinking changes step by step until he gets to the point of beginning a new reforming order. There are a lot of things happening in his life and each song is a chapter of this story. Songtitles set to appear on the CD include "Spread Your Fire", "Angels And Demons", "No Pain For The Dead" and "Late Redemption".

The band was formed in 1991, i joined the band in 2001! My former band was Symbols! After I joined Angra i could show to the world my music. I had many positive and negative moments! But the good moments were much bigger than the bad ones. I think being honnest and true opened many doors to my carreer!
Was there ever a time when you wondered if your band would remain just a local outfit and never make it in the industry?
Never! I believed in this line-up since i joined it! I would never be part of a band if i didn´t believe in it!

When we are playing live! This is the most important moment for me! The band and the fans together

What do you think about the state of the music industry today?
I think inspite some problems like piracy, ipods, internet, bootlegs, etc. The situation is going well, the record labels just need to find a solution to make the cds or any kind of media more interesting to the costumers, the price needs to be lower as well.
