Stephen Pearcy - Stripped
Hot on the heels of the "Metal Mania Stripped tour" original Ratt vocalist Stephen Pearcy releases a full show of him doing a set of acoustic material. Most songs dates back to his days in Ratt, who actually also did MTV unplugged back in 1990.

16 years later frontman Stephen Pearcy records "Stripped" at the Key Club. It's a very honest and stripped (ha ha) recording. Pearcy is not the best singer but he has a unique voice, which to me, is a very important part of my musical legacy. Unplugged you get exhibited as a musician and certainly as a singer and I am not surprised that Pearcy comes off very strong on this CD even though Led Zeppelin´s Bring it on Home doesn't suit him as a vocalist.

Pearcy takes advantage of the club atmosphere and makes it intimate, since he interacts with the audience by introducing each song with a short anecdote. Pearcy uses a full band to give the songs more body and that suits the songs. Back For More comes off strongest. Stripped down these songs just prove that they are so well-crafted that they still come off strong acoustically. Except for Lay it Down and Round and Round these songs don't loose anything stripped down. All songs are performed in tradition to the old Ratt records except for the rendition of Ratt's greatest hit Round and Round in a version that doesn't do the original justice.

I like the quote from the liner notes, which sums up why I have kept collecting Pearcy's solo albums after being a huge Ratt fan "Sure, few guitarists can wail like Warren DeMartini but no one, absolutely no one, can emulate the distinct vocals of Pearcy".

Pearcy proves to be Ratt N´Roll itself and he comes off as a tasteful performer. I can only implore Mr. Pearcy to prove it to us Europeans with a Tour.

Ratt N´Roll never gets worn out!

I really don't like this album because it sounds like a bootleg , It's not very proffesionally recorded and mixed , Also one of my favorite songs Mother Blues back from Pearcy's Arcade days sounds horrible on here his voice sounds extremelly bad on the song.....And you are correct not many guitar playes can wail like DeMartini and this would have sounded better with him on guitar...4/10
