Bombay Black plays Hard Rock with layered vocal harmonies. "Anger Management" is the second album from the American band and contains a bunch of well played songs.
Bombay Black plays like a well oiled engine that lacks the final gear to make their music really powerful.
The most characteristic mark of
Bombay Black is Eric Johnson's vocals and the pompous harmonies. The songs are quite good, but as the record progresses everything flows together with big vocals and the music wrapped up in a polished sound. A little more rawness and variation is to be preferred.
Bombay Black needs more identity in their songs to come off as an original band. The chords for
Every Time I Miss you sound like The Clash
Should I stay or should I Go. The bridge leading to the chorus is great but the polished style makes it a bit too sugar sweet for me. The heavy
That can be arranged reminds me of Motley Crue's
Hammered with
Kiss alike vocals
Singer Eric Johnson sounds good and his vocals are powerful. "Anger Management's" best track is
Masochistic Love Song with a strong sing-along chours. Also the party anthem
Crazy is a fine tune from
Bombay Black. The music is varied from heavy guitar riffing Hard rock to melodic rock/pop. The common denominator is multilayered vocals and a thin drum sound.
This is only the second album from
Bombay Black, so there is potential in the band - so get out of the studio and play live!
"Anger Management" is a release that won't offend anybody and
Bombay Black still lacks the "hit" songs to make a noticeable impact on the listener
