Danger Danger - Live & Nude
"Live and Nude" is an extravagance farewell to singer Paul Laine after the return of original singer Ted Poley. The recordings are taken from Danger Danger's 2003 Tour and the recording displays a tight band with strong songs that today still sounds fresh and relevant.

Grind is a great song and live it has kept the groovy vibe. The "Cockroach" songs are excellent and Laine also does a great job on the "old songs" especially Don't Walk away and he also hits the high notes on I Still think about You. Laine's full vocals have always put more depth to Danger Danger's music and live Laine's vocals sound flawless.

Don't Break My Heart again is introduced as one of Laine's favorite songs penned by the duo Steve West/Bruno Ravel - Laine puts extra emotion to the heartfelt lyrics. The CD ends with Danger Danger's "mega" hit Naughty Naughty in a rousing version with sing along and band presentation.

Steve West and Bruno Ravel are great songwriters and also great performers. Even though Danger Danger doesn't tour that often they sound tight on stage. Rob Marcello on guitar is an asset for the band as well. Personally I am most fond of the later Danger Danger albums with Paul Laine, but after seeing Ted Poley with the band I understand that it was the right thing. It's a small business and there is a lot of mudslinging between "old 80's" Hard Rock bands and therefore it is refreshing to see a clean break and Paul Laine being acknowledged by Steve and Bruno for his years in Danger Danger.

Overall the material is very strong. The selection of songs is great representing both Danger Danger's past with Poley and Laine's time in the band. Bang Bang and Good Time are the only one that I would have traded if I were to choose the setlist. If I hadn't witness Danger Danger live I would say that this album was touched up because it sounds fantastic. One of the few relieving reality checks is Goin Goin Gone, which proves this really is live since there is some fuzz on when Danger Danger kicks into the bridge leading to the chorus.

The sound on "Live and Nude" is brilliant - it is almost too flawless with Laine's voice upfront in the mix. This definitely is a great salute to Paul Laine and he can be very prod of his swan song - "Live and Nude".

Obligation to buy for all Danger "f**king" Danger fans. Stay horney!
