MTM Classix has set an April 20 release date for the reissue of the classic "Cruisin' for a Bruisin'" album from the Copenhagen, Denmark-based melodic hard rock band FATE.

FATE was formed in 1985 byformer MERCYFUL FATE guitarist Hank Shermann (René Krolmark), MAXIM singer Jeff Lox Limbo (Jens Meinert), bass/keyboard player Pete Steiner (Peter Steincke) and drummer Bob Lance (Bjarne Holm). With producer Simon Hanhart (BRYAN ADAMS, ASIA, 21 GUNS, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, MARILLION) the band recorded "Cruisin' for a Bruisin'" in 1988, which features the ultra-catchy "Lovers" (released as a single and video in 1988) and a new version of "Love on the Rox" from the band's debut.

FATE's third album, "Cruisin' for a Bruisin'" is finally getting its well-deserved digitally remastered reissue as the original CD release has been out of print for more than fifteen years.

Monday, February 20, 2006 - New Fate album scheduled for April 2006
Denmark's hard rock band Fate finally returns to the scene with a brand new album titled "V" to be released in April 2006.

MTM Music managed to get the rights for the re-issues of "A Matter Of Attitude" and "Scratch N Sniff" to build up a possible comeback. Fate got the offer to play the prestigious Deep Impact Festival in Germany in 2004, and of course this was too good an offer to turn down. Now, ignited by the overwhelming response to the re-releases, Fate has decided to give it another shot with a new line-up and producer Tommy Hansen (who did "Scratch NSniff" back in 1990, as well as having produced bands like Helloween, Pretty Maids, TNT and many more), April 2006 sees the release of "V" followed by some gigs in and out of Denmark.

Other information
Band profile

What is your name and your current position in the band?

My name is Peter Steincke and I play the bass, and keyboards on the record.

Tell us about the history of the band. More specifically, when was the band formed, how did you meet, and have there been any particular highlights or low points in your career, any crucial events that have taken you where you are today?

Hank Sherman started the band in '85 after Mercyful Fate split up. At that time our singer was Jeff Limbo , but both he and Hank left the band in '88 after the 3rd album for different reasons. Then we made Scratch & Sniff with Per Johansson on vocals and Mattias Eklundh on guitars but in '91 Mattias left to persue a solocareer. Søren Hoff then became the guitarplayer and still is. In '93 we decided to take a break! But a couple of years ago we decided to make a new album, and now FATE V is here! A certain highlite was when we got our first record deal in '85, which was actually only 3 weeks after we put the band together. When people leave the band is always a low point, but sometimes it is for the better!

Was there ever a time when you wondered if your band would remain just a local outfit and never make it in the industry?

To be honest - no! We have always aimed for more than just local. Our recordsdeals have always been international.

What is your latest album and why should people buy it?

FATE "V" is our latest album, just released, and I think is a good mixture of hard rock and melody. powerful singing and mad guitars!

How would you categorize the style of the band? And did you ever consider or try playing other styles of music than the one(s) you are playing now?

We have never thought playing anything else, than we are doing. This is FATE And this is what we are doing. The style is melodic hard rock with a twist. or two.

Can you share with us one or two of your favourite moments with the band?

As mentioned before, when we got our first deal and had a record out - that was great moment. But anytime when you are playing together and it just happens! That is super! Not a big thing - but that's what playing in a band is all about!

How is the writing process in the band?

We are all making the music together. Usually an idea will be thrown on the table from one guy, and then Per will do some vocal , Søren will do his guitar and maybe it will evolve into a song.(or maybe not!). So its very much a collaboration where everyone has something to say - and play!.

What brought you on the path to becoming a musician? Did you ever consider or take any other paths through life besides music?

Music has always been a important part of my life. I have been doing other thing besides music , which is a good thing , it sort of brings things in perspective!

Do you have any idols? If yes, who?

A lot, and not especially bassplayers or musicians for that matter. Too many to mention, though!

Do you have any regrets looking back at your career? For example any songs or even full albums that you regret recording? If so, what made you regret it?

No , not really . Because its not worth it, waste of time.

Are there particular songs in your catalogue that the fans love but you're not particular fond of yourself?

People have different views on different songs and as a musician you have another perspective on the songs - how they were to record , how they are live.

How important do you rate the lyrical side of your albums?

Very much. It's important that the singer can relate to what his is singing. Pers singing and his lyrics are very personal.

What do you think about the state of the music industry today?

To be completely honest, I don't really know. I think its pretty much the same as ever.

What do you think is the best way to fight music piracy?

Difficult question! Its will always be there in some form. I buy my music , also because I want the cover, the whole thing.

Do you have a life philosophy? If yes, what is it?

Be honest about what you are doing.

Can you describe a typical day in your life?

Its is really too boring to describe. very ordinary!

What do you like to spend your time with besides music?

Working! Living!

What's the craziest thing that has ever happened on a tour?

So many things happen. But once we supported Malmsteen on a European tour, and - cant remember where - we were playing this huge arena, where the dressing rooms where in one end, and you had to get to stage in the other end , crossing the arena under ground in this complex tunnel system. When we reached the stage, with the help of a local runner , our guitarist and keyboardplayer were missing. They somehow managed to get lost in this tunnelsystem, runners were sent out to find them. Eventually they were found and we went on stage!

You're heading off to live on a deserted island for a couple of years with your portable entertainment system... Which albums, movies or books would you bring? (Max. 3 of each)

Without batteries there is really no point!! :)

What is your favourite joke?

Dont have a favourite. But off course for musicians Spinal Tap still is one big fat joke!

Can you tell us about any future plans for you and your band?

Playing live is the next thing we're gonna do , and we just see what happens..

Thanks for answering these questions. Now you are free to write a few lines to our readers.

Well..good to be back after all those years..
See you
Peter
