What is your name and your current position in the band?

Hi there! My name is Terence Holler and i'm the singer of the band

Tell us about the history of the band. More specifically, when was the band formed, how did you meet, and have there been any particular highlights or low points in your career, any crucial events that have taken you where you are today?

Well, we started in 1991, from an idea from me, eugene simone and adriano dal canto. All 3 of us came from a hard rock band called zeus, but then decided to create a more heavier and original kind of metal.

We signed our first real deal with limb schnoor from l.m.p. as for a manager and pubblisher and then in 1994 we signed a record deal for inside out music. 3 albums for that label (seeds of rage '95, headquake '97, el nino '98) and then an album for metal blade (reverse '2001) and the last 2 for diversity-media/ lmp (portrait of the abuss within '2004 and neighbourhell '2006).

Our highlights were the tours with angra, threshold and pain of salvation and many shows in our country and some festivals around the world. Our last show was on april 7th as headliners in u.s.a. at the chicago powerfest.! The only low points are some band member's quitting during these first 15 years of carreer, but as long as the songwriters were and are , me and eugene, it didn't influence the band much.

Was there ever a time when you wondered if your band would remain just a local outfit and never make it in the industry?

Not really!!! We've been lucky to have always had great reviews and good sales! Maybe, just a bit tired between 2001 and 2003 due to line up problems, but all now is extremely positive..

What is your latest album and why should people buy it?

Our latest album is Neighbourhell and people should buy it because we are unique!!! It's a perfect and catchy mixture of thrash, power, rock and melody!! Nobody plays all these different genres all in the same disc!!!

How would you categorize the style of the band? And did you ever consider or try playing other styles of music than the one(s) you are playing now?

Our style is really hard to categorize!!!! It's a sort of melodic power thrash technical rock album!!! It's also nearly impossible for us to try something different because we have almost all the styles already in our albums!!!!

Can you share with us one or two of your favourite moments with the band?

The best moment was the trip around chicago with a big white limousine!!!!! That was unexpected and incredible! The other was the 1st gods of metal we played in 1997 with 10.000 people singing our songs!!!!! Thes and other events gave us the strength to continue in this world!!!

How is the writing process in the band?

Usually eugene or peck come to me with a cd that contains half of an istrumental song. I listen to it in my car and write down the melody and later the lyrics. It all works this way. It could take a few months for writing an entire album, but it's a good way of writing songs.

What brought you on the path to becoming a musician? Did you ever consider or take any other paths through life besides music?

It all happens naturally. I started to sing in 1987 and i'm still here!!!! I never thought about doing anything without my voice!!!!

Do you have any idols? If yes, who?

Mike patton, geoff tate, ray alder, james hetfield, freddy mercury , billy joel and jon bon jovi are my idols. These guys gave me all something to learn about!!!

Do you have any regrets looking back at your career? For example any songs or even full albums that you regret recording? If so, what made you regret it?

One rule in my life is : no fucking regrets!!!! Nobody ever forced me to do something i didn't like. I've always been a free man and i'm lucky to be this way!!!

Are there particular songs in your catalogue that the fans love but you're not particular fond of yourself?

To be honest with you, not really!!! As i said, i like what i wrote and each song is like a child for me and i love all my children!!!!!

How important do you rate the lyrical side of your albums?

Well, in these last 3 albums i always wrote lyrics about my life, like if the albums were some kind of a diary. The fans like my lifetime memories because they fit themselves in my words! I'm not into any fantasy or politic kind of lyrics. I prefer talking about what i know better: myself! So, i think that the lyrics count as for the 40% on the economy of an album.

What do you think about the state of the music industry today?

Well, internet gave a hand for a lot of things, but it also killed the music business because of free downloading!! The 70% of the audience never buys an original cd!!!! No money left for the smaller bands and lots of money losses for the big acts!!!!

What do you think is the best way to fight music piracy?

Death penalty to the responsables of music piracy!!!!!

Do you have a life philosophy? If yes, what is it?

Yes, i do have a life philosophy: live each day like if it's your last. Never think too much about tomorrow or yesterday, but just live for the moment and live it as your best!!!!

Can you describe a typical day in your life?

I'm a lucky man, because i live in a wonderful mansion in toscana on a beautiful hill on the ocean!! So, i wake up and do some gardening, jogging and sometimes fishing. Then i give lots of parties in my swimming pool in the summer, with good wine and awesome girls!!!!!! What else should i need???

What do you like to spend your time with besides music?

I play soccer in a team in a low championship!!! This keeps me occupied. I also create artistic iron works with fire, hammer and an anvil... Okay, of course i like fooling around with friends and girls!!!!

What's the craziest thing that has ever happened on a tour?

I remember a festival in austria when our tour bus got stuck in the mud! It was really hard trying to get out of the mess pushing the bus!!!! But in the end we made it out!!!!!

You're heading off to live on a deserted island for a couple of years with your portable entertainment system... Which albums, movies or books would you bring? (max. 3 of each)

Well considering that i don't read or watch movies, i guess i'll bring porno stuff and lots of tissues..!!!!!

What is your favourite joke?

Too dirty too mention... Anyway, i don't know many.

Can you tell us about any future plans for you and your band?

Yeah, our cd is just out, so we'll play, play and play!!! Then we'll write new stuff and then play more..

Thanks for answering these questions. Now you are free to write a few lines to our readers.

I just wanna tell the people to try eldritch and trust our music, we are an unusual heavy metal act for all kinds of heavy listeners!!! So: keep the faith!
