Band profile

What is your name and your current position in the band?

My name is gøran bomann and i play the guitar.

Tell us about the history of the band. More specifically, when was the band formed, how did you meet, and have there been any particular highlights or low points in your career, any crucial events that have taken you where you are today?

Chain Collector are from Norway and was formed in 2003!We did the demo "forthcoming addiction" in 2004 that got a lot of great reviews! In 2004 we also signed for two records with sound riot, in 2005 we hit the studio which resolved into the debut album called "the masquerade". Massacre records has the licence for our record in Europe, Canada, South America and Australia via Massacre Records! So we are very excited and hoping to reach out to as many as possible!

Was there ever a time when you wondered if your band would remain just a local outfit and never make it in the industry?

Well this is our first record so we have to wait and see where it goes!

What is your latest album and why should people buy it?

They should buy it because it is one hell of an album and cracking the virginity of this band, haha!

How would you categorize the style of the band? And did you ever consider or try playing other styles of music than the one(s) you are playing now?

It is quite new for me this music since I have only played black metal. I have always liked the Swedish kind of way to make music, the melodies, groovy parts, trash and pure metal, so I'm taking a step in and see what i can create!

Can you share with us one or two of your favourite moments with the band?

Well since we haven't done any live stuff and the rest can be quite crazy(alcohol and shit you know, fucks you up, haha) my lips are sealed at the moment!

How is the writing process in the band?

I make all the music in the band, i have a hard disc recorder with a drum machine on that i make the pre production on! I only set up raw drums so that kobro can work his magic on it! The lyrics were written by two people outside the band so i only arranged the vocals, they finalized it and sang it the way that suited them the best! The other guitarist(kjella) does the solos on the album which s his specialty!

What brought you on the path to becoming a musician? Did you ever consider or take any other paths through life besides music?

I cant really remember, but i think we started playing because we were bored or something!dont know, haha!

Do you have any idols? If yes, who?

no

Do you have any regrets looking back at your career? For example any songs or even full albums that you regret recording? If so, what made you regret it?

Don't regret anything! I'm pleased with everything, its pretty cool to listen to something you recorded for a long time ago and hear the progress you made!

Are there particular songs in your catalogue that the fans love but you're not particular fond of yourself?

Don't know!

How important do you rate the lyrical side of your albums?

I think its 50/50

What do you think about the state of the music industry today?

Hasn't it always been fucked up? who do you think has the power and money?

What do you think is the best way to fight music piracy?

Forget about it

Do you have a life philosophy? If yes, what is it?

Do what you want to do and don't look back!

Can you describe a typical day in your life?

I get up in the morning, go to work, come home and eat supper, relax and watch some tv or check out the internet, i really like to create the music at night so i usually play some guitar or arranging/rearranging some music! suddenly its bed time and you get to do it all over again next day until the weekend comes(drinking time, yeeha)

What do you like to spend your time with besides music?

I like to just relax, I like to travel and see new things ,just haven't had the time for it lately since the music take most of my time!

What's the craziest thing that has ever happened on a tour?

I can tell you that all kind of shit goes down! case closed! Haha!

You're heading off to live on a deserted island for a couple of years with your portable entertainment system... Which albums, movies or books would you bring? (Max. 3 of each)

That's a hard one, albums:
immortal-damned in black, emperor-ix equilibrium, opeth-morningrise (good to sleep to)

movies: some great war movies and some crazy porn

What is your favourite joke?

Can you tell us about any future plans for you and your band?

We are hoping to play as much we can live, make a music video(or more) and keep on creating great music!

Thanks for answering these questions. Now you are free to write a few lines to our readers.

Thanx man! I hope to see you all on the road or check out the masquerade!
