Bob Catley's voice sounds crystal clear and perfect for
Magnum's Pomp rock crossed with
AOR and Hard Rock tendencies. Tony Clarkin is the composer of all songs and his abilities as lead guitarist shines on
The Lights Burned out.
Magnum's music is compact and the band sounds tight.
Magnum functions perfect as a group and except for Clarkin's extended guitar solo on
Two Hearts Magnum stands strong united.
Magnum probably peaked live around this tour as well. The concert displays a band hungry for playing music
The songs featured here, which later also ended up on the live album "The Spirit" sounds best on "River Sessions". The standout track
How far Jerusalem outshines the version on "The Spirit". This album could in all senses surpass "The Spirit" if I wasn't more fond of the tracklist on "The Spirit", since I first discovered
Magnum in 86 when they released "Vigilante".

Magnum proudly promotes their new album "On a storytellers night", which is considered a masterpiece in
Magnums career. The band plays 8 songs off that album with the title track as an amazing highlight of the album.
