The album is currently beeing mixed in the Abyss Studio A by the almighty Peter Tägtgren.
The album will be called "III".

Right now we´re laying down the first (of many!) tracks that in the end will be our third album due to be released early next year. Been a lot of work lately first of all deciding which songs to record. We´ve narrowed it down from almost 30 songs to 15. We´ll see how many of them that will make the album but it will be at least 12. Of the few that have heard the new material (close friends and family) we´ve got a very positive response so far. Some people taking it so far as saying that it´s by far the best songs we´ve ever written...! But I´ll have to say, that if you liked ANITG you´ll probably enjoy the coming one just as much...hopefully even more! You know, we are who we are and there´s no way we´ll change, stubborn bastards as we are!

 What is your name and your current position in the band?
My name's Micke and I´m the guitarist and main songwriter of the band.
Tell us about the history of the band. More specifically, when was the band formed, how did you meet, and have there been any particular highlights or low points in your career, any crucial events that have taken you where you are today?
The band got together back in '99 when me and the guys were in the same class at school, and after some time we understood that we had pretty much the same influences and general thoughts about music so we decided to form a band. The overall superb reviews of our first album (you guys reviewed it twice!! Special thanks from us to Steen & Michael!) is definitely a highlight. None of us could even had dreamed of that! And the very fact that Lasse at Lion Music gave us the chance to record and release our music worldwide and works as hard as he does for our sake is also to be considered a highlight!
The low point right now is that Japan don't want to release " A Night In The Gutter" over there...! At one point a couple of years ago we almost gave up the band. We got signed to a label that didn't do shit for us. We were under contract, and couldn't go elsewhere to get our music out to the public. We were told to write songs, record demos and send them to the record company. So we did. And we heard nothing from them....for a year! That sucked big time! But what do not kill you makes you stronger they say so...here we are!
Was there ever a time when you wondered if your band would remain just a local outfit and never make it in the industry?
In my mind, the sound that Dogpound have developed over the years kinda seems like a necessary input in the music of today. There are loads of good bands out there, but it's hard to find a band that puts the song and the melodies in focus now-days. So I've never had any doubt that Dogpound would get signed and hopefully we'll build a following during the next couple of years. The world needs Dogpound!!
What is your latest album and why should people buy it?
The album is called "A Night In The Gutter" and was released 21:st October and can be purchased just about everywhere and on our homepage!! (dogpound.da.ru) Why should people buy it? Just for the simple fact that even if they don't know it yet, they need us! As I just read in a review of the album, we are the perfect link between old and new. Heavy when needed, melodic when needed and both at the same time when that's needed! If you seek an album where you can sing along in the chorus and bang your head in the verses and feel that the band is not stuck in the 80's hairspray style but has taken melodic rock into this century, then here is your choice!
How would you categorize the style of the band? And did you ever consider or try playing other styles of music than the one(s) you are playing now?
Modern melodic hard rock, I guess. That's a hard one! You tell me! Dogpound found the "Dogpound sound" very early on and we have no intentions to change it drastically. To develop and keep things fresh is the main goal. Maybe next album will be a bit heavier...or maybe not! We'll just have to see as we go along!
Can you share with us one or two of your favourite moments with the band?
Recording "Led Clones" with Peter Tägtgren (Hypocrisy/Pain) for the Gary Moore tribute "Give Us Moore" is definitely a good memory! Peter is such a great guy and an awesome studio technician. He gave us both a great sound and a good time!
How is the writing process in the band?
Usually I write the songs, bring them to the rehearsal studio and the other guys give their input when it comes to arrangements. A song don't sound "Dogpound" until Figge and Tuka grooves in their own special way and Hea explodes vocal-wise. It's a mixture between the four of us that makes things happen.
What brought you on the path to becoming a musician? Did you ever consider or take any other paths through life besides music?
When I was 6 years old, I saw KISS on tv and it was pure magic. Ace Frehley stood there with his smoking Gibson Les Paul, and that was the moment that I decided that I just had to become Ace! Other kids wanted to be fire men, doctors and other stuff. I wanted to be Ace Frehley! I'm not quite there yet but I haven't given up my childhood dream...! Music has been my main focus in life since that day so to answer your question, no, no other paths have been considered!
Do you have any idols? If yes, who?
Lots! Musical idols I guess that is...Frank Zappa, Alice Cooper, Ace Frehley of course, Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull, and hundreds of other bands and musicians...
Do you have any regrets looking back at your career? For example any songs or even full albums that you regret recording? If so, what made you regret it?
I've recorded a bunch of albums before we got Dogpound together and back in '96 I think, I played on a death metal album. That is not one of my proudest moments...mainly because it sucked! Sold a lot, and led to a deal with a major label but nevertheless...!
Are there particular songs in your catalogue that the fans love but you're not particular fond of yourself?
By some reason most people that have heard our debut album "The Hellbum" consider "You Remain" to be a great song. I hated it from the start but the guys in the band liked it so...I changed my mind a bit when Hea explained the lyrics that he had written for the song to me, The lyrics are great but it's still the song I like the least...so far!
How important do you rate the lyrical side of your albums?
The lyrics are a big part of a song. Some of our lyrics are dead serious in one way or another, some of our lyrics have some kind of Monty Python-ish ironic twist to them that some people like, and understandably some don't. But to me, humor should be a part of music. To use music to get your political or religious points of view through to the people is to me crap. Music is entertainment, and politics and religion are NOT!!
What do you think about the state of the music industry today?
What state?! It's poor, to say the least. Record companies complain that sales are going down, and illegal downloads is the cancer that has to be dealt with. Here in Sweden, a record costs about 20$, to download an album is free, You do the math...
What do you think is the best way to fight music piracy?
As long as it's not a crime punishable with death, it will always be around. It's sad that people in general don't realize that it is stealing, and bands like ours suffers badly. The difference between Dogpound doing another album or Dogpound calling it a day is the sales of our current album. A friend of mine told me that "The Hellbum", our debut album had something like 5000 downloads from one site. On the positive side, maybe 3 of these guys went out and bought the album, but I'd rather see that all of them did...!
Do you have a life philosophy? If yes, what is it?
Nah, just get trough the day with the least amount of problems works for me...or as my mentor in life, Flyt says: "Jou Diu...". The band has "The Dogpound Philosophy" which is: "Why turn the volume of the louder instruments down when you can turn up the volume on the ones that aren't loud enough?" We like it LOUD...!
Can you describe a typical day in your life?
I wake up, drink some coffee and take care of what has to be done. May it be recording, songwriting, touring or doing the laundry...!
What do you like to spend your time with besides music?
Music I guess...poor answer, but ask my girlfriend if you don't believe me!
What's the craziest thing that has ever happened on a tour?
If I told you, you wouldn't believe me anyway...!And to protect the people involved I have to keep it a secret for now...but I have a sack of goodies to tell the world if I'll ever write my self biography!
You're heading off to live on a deserted island for a couple of years with your portable entertainment system... Which albums, movies or books would you bring? (Max. 3 of each)
Albums would be: "Destroyer" with KISS, "The life and crimes of Alice Cooper" by Alice Cooper and "Heavy Horses" with Jethro Tull,
Movies: Monty Python and the holy grail, Monty Pythons The meaning of life and Life of Brian. (whaddya mean I'm a python fan?!!)
Books: The hitchhikers guide to the galaxy by Douglas Adams, The real Frank Zappa Book by Frank Zappa and MADs "Bathroom companion"!
What is your favourite joke?
My fav joke is the one that is being told to me at the moment if it makes me laugh! I myself suck big time when it comes to telling jokes!
Can you tell us about any future plans for you and your band?
Right now it's promotion time for "A Night In The Gutter" so we work as hard as we can to make the world realize that each and everyone needs a copy of it!
