Here is a glimpse into the early stages into Time Machine's career, which offers three early studio tracks recorded in '93 and '94 (from
Project: Time Scanning), as well as a series of bootleg live recordings from '94 and '96, something rare and nice for the fans who relished in last years
Reviviscence - Liber Secundus.
Being that most of this material was recorded about ten years ago, it really shows the embryonic part of the band's evolution, and yes, they have grown since then, but what these guys were doing at the time was fairly revolutionary due to the fact that not many prog-metal bands had really experimented with multi-phased drawn out sub symphonic compositions, or at least getting the notoriety for doing so.
Tracks 1-3 are studio recordings and feature the darkness within the technicalities for which all three really showcase the soloing factor that sounds heavily influenced by Dream Theater, but yet encompasses the gloomy vibe that would become the mantra of Time Machine's sound, particularly with "
753 A.C. Ab Urbe Condita."
The rest of the disc is a series of live tracks, and yes they are bootleg quality, taped from a mic in the audience, but through the tinny sound and feedback you can hear that the band really had it together as performers, being able to unleash their energy with melodic and bombastic force where the musicianship is tight.
It is fairly short, but never the less, it is a good snapshot in time that we rarely get to hear from a lot of bands, making some good fodder for fans of Time Machine.
