RevelationZ Magazine proudly presents
TriggerDaddy!
TriggerDaddy has recorded their debut album at
Gilby Clarke's Redrum Recordings without a label deal. The CD has been available via their
website and Triggerdaddy just secured a well-earned deal UK deal with Cargo Records.
Hiding under the
TriggerDaddy moniker is Tim Karr who released an album in 1989. 16 years later Tim Karr is back and ready to recover the wasted years.
The musicians performing on
TriggerDaddy are some of the finest musicians off L.A.'s Sunset strip scene. Names like Ryan Roxie, Eric Singer, Brian Tichy, Jon E. Love and Teddy ZigZag should ring a bell. Besides producing the album
Gilby Clarke also plays guitar and Gilby has co-written
Enemy, Can't Get High and
Train 2 Nowhere.
The haunting ballad
Enemy is one of the best songs. Teddy Zig Zag's organ effect provides the song with a special emotion, which is supported by Clarke's solo and the great harmonies.
Besides
Enemy, the tough rocker
Jesus Cowboy and
Shape of things 2 Come are the album's highlights. However,
Price of Love is the song that completely hits bull's eye. The beautiful ballad tells the classic story about love gone wrong. Simultaneously with the lyrics the music builds up for climax, which is reached as the leading character in the story jumps off a bridge. Jon E. Love from
Love/Hate plays a solo that fits the songs emotion perfectly.
Instead of letting all the participating rock stars show off "Stereosonic Meltdown's" center of attention points at the melodies and the songs themselves. The style is melodic rock but with a few detours -
Space and Time has a touch of blues/country, while
Gimme Sum Skin is permeated with punk attitude
Tim Karr got some very prominent names to help him out, but the music speaks for itself. The record is one solid unit packed with no frills straight melodic rock.
TriggerDaddy manages to play old fashioned music, but still keeps lots of kick ass edge to their songs.
Welcome back Mr. Karr!
