Stampede
Queen was featured on the "Hollywood Hairspray III" compilation released by their label Perris Records. In 2004 Stampede
Queen releases their debut album "A Night At The Cockfights"
Hailing from Canada Stampede
Queen take you back to the early late 70's/Early 80's with the simple means guitars, bass and drums. Singer Jack Daniels.ehh, sorry Zack Daniels has a really great tough voice with a southern feel to it.
The music is simple - no frills Rock 'N' Roll. It might be a bit primitive and also unoriginal, but it works and the first single
Never Turn Your Back On Rock 'N' Roll makes you want to stomp your feet to the
AC/DC like Rock 'n' Roll. A song like
Mister Saturday Night has both an
AC/DC guitar sound and simple
AC/DC imitated riff. Still Stampede
Queen borrows with respect and obvious love of classic barroom Rock.
Album highlights include the catchy
Dee Dee Dominator driven by a bouncing riff and my personal favorite
Freewheeler, which has the best chorus on the disc. The intro to
Freewheeler makes you think of
Live Wire by
AC/DC and the chords are also very
AC/DC like. However, Stampede
Queen also manage to add their own personal mark to the songs.
Wet Velvet is a cool bluesy track with great guitar playing and Zack Daniels' raspy voice. Stampede
Queen recycle old Rock 'N' Roll riffs like on
Animal Love, but its done with a raw sound and attitude throughout the whole record, which has a pretty good production.
This is a great attempt to bring Rock back, since the band is very trustworthy and true to the style. "A Night at the Cockfights" is sweaty simple Rock 'N' Roll disc and this kind of music only comes fully alive on stage. The CD is a good warm up before a Stampede
Queen live show and isolated the album is a good time hard Rock 'n' Roll CD.
