Naked Beggars - Naked Beggars
Naked Beggars is a new act from Nashville, Tennessee. The founders of Naked Beggars, Kris Casamento and singer Inga Brittingham, are responsible for the songwriting. So don't expect a Cinderella soundalike even though Eric Brittingham is on bass and production credits. Eric has only co-written one song for the album. Marketing wise Eric is very valuable since his name attracts lots of interest among media persons and Cinderella fans.

Naked Beggars has a pretty cool attitude and plays in your face Rock 'n' Roll. The brilliant No More is a stand-alone track with a verse marked by Inga's sexy vocals and it builds up for climax in the melodic chorus. No More has a cool female kick ass edge to it and so far definitely ranks among my favorite songs this year.

Unfortunately No More is a stand out track in a class of its own. The other songs don't match No More in melodic appeal. The closest is the swaggering' Wastin' Time, which has a nice Rolling Stones sound to the guitars. Fallen has a mellow verse and a strong melodic chorus.

Overall most tracks are standard tracks, which makes Naked Beggars' debut album a bit meaningless exemplified on Wake Me plus the primitive Kind of Girl.

Cinderella's Jeff LaBar makes a guest appearance on Bitch. The music rocks big time, but the chorus is monotone and much too repetitive. However, there is a cool reference to Jeff and Eric's band with the line "I'm not your Cinderella bitch". Bitch is also album closer in a horrible disco remix.

It took me a while to appreciate Naked Beggars and even though I only embrace about half the CD, the debut album shows potential. The material needs to be better if Naked Beggars want to be in the major league. Sometimes Inga's vocals sound too shrill and supports that I am not a big fan of female vocals. However, on Open Eyes Inga really puts emotion to her vocals.

Eric Brittingham has produced the album and provided it with a cool rock 'n' roll sound highlighting Inga's vocals and the Stones like guitars.

This type of music suits club stages and I am pretty sure that Naked Beggars rocks in concert. Jeff LaBar has joined the touring line-up of Naked Beggars and definitely interesting to experience them on stage opposite to experience them on disc.

Hey - Time to revisit NB. Damn! the new material is convincingly hard driving rock and it's got an original footprint. Inga's vocals have got to be heard to be believed. The newer members are top pro's, melding talents into this pounding sensational sound. You're missing it, Michael... Better go back again and catch them on the road. We're talkin' one hell of a good time.
