Straight from North Carolina, U.S.A., it's
Jesse Bolt offering their own take on retro metal. Could these guys possibly be local heroes among the hard rock scene of the south, stereotypically known for either its college indie rock scene (especially in cities such as Athens, Nashville/Murfreesboro, or Chapel Hill) or of course, southern rock; well regardless, it's good to see a down to earth metal band coming straight from the area that only few metal bands have ever been able to break out of.
Offering triple guitar attack, good songwriting, and music on their own terms,
Jesse Bolt stands firm within the realm of a sound completely driven by the guitars. The songwriting and the playing is the focal point of
The Revelation, complete with cuts with sub-anthem choruses like
"We Will Rock," "On and On," as well as the title track, offering up hooks and riffs brought forth by dueling lead axemen Don Stacy and Jeff Shinn (lots of room for soloing, and it is used), and the crunch of rhythm guitarist Keith Stacy to keep the enduring punch consistent along with bassist Craig Hatley and drummer Max Hill, overall it's a tight band.
When listening to this it's like you can feel that these guys have a good presence live,
The Revelation in particular showcases these guys as a strong band, and is not bad for a debut, considering they have their chops and production skills together to harness the ideas for many of the songs represented here.
The sound is for fans of bands like Van Halen, later period
Ted Nugent (
Call of the Wild or
State of Shock), and many of the hard rock bands that graced the airwaves of the early eighties, there is even some elements of NWOBHM and early Iron Maiden, per say, but regardless, these guys play their brand of metal on terms that are not confined to any regional stereotype or bar/club, just straight ahead driving hard rock with the classic metal tinge.
