Sunday, May 16, 2010 - Ronnie James Dio Passes Away
It is with a heavy heart that we report the passing of a true metal legend; Ronnie James Dio has been confirmed as dead by his wife Wendy.

Posting on Blabbermouth.net she made the following statement:

"Today my heart is broken, Ronnie passed away at 7:45 a.m. [on Sunday] 16th May. Many, many friends and family were able to say their private goodbyes before he peacefully passed away.

"Ronnie knew how much he was loved by all.

We so appreciate the love and support that you have all given us.

Please give us a few days of privacy to deal with this terrible loss.

Please know he loved you all and his music will live on forever."

Dio, who was 67, had been diagnosed with stomach cancer in November last year and was recently forced to cancel Heaven and Hell's summer shows as his health had not significantly improved.

The thoughts of the RevelationZ staff and all fans of Dio's musical legacy are with Wendy and family at this time.
