Wednesday, March 25, 2009 - New bands confirmed for Sweden Rock Festival 2009!
Over The Rainbow, Neal Morse and Dan Baird are the latest bands to be confirmed for this years Sweden Rock Festival.

OVER THE RAINBOW (US/D)
There will be no reunion of the legendary Rainbow, says guitarist and unrivalled band-leader Ritchie Blackmore. But this lot is about as close as you can get to the real thing! Keyboardist Tony Carey, drummer Bobby Rondinelli, bassist Greg Smith and not least singer Joe Lynn Turner are all former members of Rainbow, and they have a certain Mr. Blackmore on guitar. No, not Ritchie, but his son Jürgen, a definite chip off the old block guitar-playing-wise. Together, they are Over the Rainbow, and thanks to them we will get the opportunity at SRF to hear the classics from one of hard rock's most beloved bands live once more, the way they were meant to be played!

DAN BAIRD & HOMEMADE SIN (US)
Atlanta resident Dan Baird is best known as the former leader of Southern rockers The Georgia Satellites, who between 1985-89 released one EP and three full length albums of supreme quality, featuring hits like "Keep Your Hands to Yourself" and "Open All Night". In 1990, he "fired himself" from the band, and has since continued as a solo artist, with different backing bands. He formed the band Homemade Sin in 2005, as always with faithful companion Mauro Magellan (drums) at his side, and their eponymous debut arrived last year. If you want your rock simple, gritty and honest, Dan Baird & Homemade Sin will be very much up your alley.

NEAL MORSE (US)
Neal Morse is one of the truly great personalities in contemporary progressive rock. As the founder and former leader of Spock's Beard, with whom he released six albums between 1995-2002. As a member of supergroup Transatlantic, who during their brief existence made a lasting impression on prog-fans around the globe. And finally for his solo career, that in merely ten years have spawned numerous, exceedingly eclectic albums. But even as a solo artist Neal Morse is best known for his progressive rock albums, often concept albums alluding on his Christian Faith. A truly special artist, and a worthy addition to this year's SRF.
